women's vs. men's departments

I'm SO glad this trend is over on this side of the pond. Lots of cute cheeky heels around this autumn instead.
Not really a trend. Most girls I know would rather just be comfortable and couldn't give a rat's ass about their shoe fashion.

It's because they're all bartenders and servers and spend 10+ hours running around the restaurant every day.

Why should I buy a new sweater, when the one I have is still perfectly good?

By that logic, men's makers should up their levels of planned obsolescene in order to keep men shopping more frequently. And indeed, many lower priced makers do exactly that. The quality of construction in menswear has deteriorated with more and more makers prioritising price over durability.

Well, my response to that would be to check the label and say: "Cheap piece of shit! I'll never buy that brand again!"

Of course, this determination would likely last only as far as the big and tall store, which would remind me why I bought that cheap piece of shit in the first place: it was the only thing that fit. :(

But I have managed to stop buying one brand of khakis for that very reason. Fool me once, shame on me...

That said--I'm sure you know much more about this than I do, and I bow to your superior expertise.

Maybe this might sound small-minded or ignorant of me or whatever but maybe the reason women think they're paid less is because they spend so much on shoes and come home with next to nothing where as guys have two or three pairs of shoes.

Dude. When you see the sign that says, "beyond here there be Dragons", you DON'T go!

Although, on the pay thing. It's because of executive good old boys skewing the averages. A valid issue. But think of it, in the real world, name one job where the starting pay is X for men and 70 percent of X for women. That's a statistical half truth I've heard a few too many times.

Shit, I didn't heed the sign.

She expressed amazement at how comfortable and warm it was, and swore that she was going to buy her next overcoat in the men's department.

This is why I own several men's wool and cashmere sweaters. I even had a Scotch House men's jacket that finally wore out after several years. Once you get used to the buttons being on the wrong side you never know the difference. I also loved the convenient inner pockets. :)

There's nothing wrong with ugg boots. If you're Australian that is. Particularly if you're a sheep shearer.

Actually my pair have served me well this past month - particularly on those -16F mornings when it's snowing and the puppy wants to go out NOW.

I'm currently at my sister's in Alabama and have to laugh at these Southerners walking around in Uggs. BTW, for this trip I have my comfy slippers, my Cole-Haan loafers, Stuart Weitzman heels and Taryn Rose ballet flats. :p

You mean, on the right side, for once. ;)
