Obviously from "Where No Man Has Gone Before" I assume just a promo photo with Yeoman Smith but nothing like this was in the episode! What is Kirk holding?

That was the cover of the NBC promo for the advanced information on the 1966-67 programming season for Star Trek. There was an entire booklet that explained the concept and characters. The entire booklet was reproduced in "Inside Star Trek"

It looks like a little tank with a valve on top, and one of the silver-painted foam cups with a plastic cover on it.

What she's holding is more mysterious. Maybe a little utility belt that was meant to hold props.

That is just the weirdest picture. First of all, they both look great. Second, she's holding what seriously looks like a jock strap. Second, Shatner looks like he's holding some cheez-wiz, or maybe an airhorn, and a large can of soda. Just utterly bizarre. :guffaw:

The most interesting thing to me is the dish on the Enterprise which is one of the earlier concept drawings from Jefferies

That view of the ship, the angle, looks so similar to its first fx appearance in "The Cage," I think it's a painting that was built up by projecting a film frame as a 35mm slide, and tracing it onto a large canvas or poster board. Then for some reason the deflector dish was filled in using early sketches as a guide?

That image appeared in the Star Trek NBC Sales Pilot Sell Sheet from 1966, which was reproduced in the book Inside Star Trek: The Real Story, 1996. That same guide featured the infamous photo of Spock with his eyebrows and ears airbrushed back to "normal". The pix in it largely appear to be publicity still shot during the filming of the second pilot.

See post #6, lol

Looks like grenade cans or cans of shaving cream. Either she's terrified he's going to stop shaving and throw them out... Or she just saw something that made her incredibly happy, I'm still terribly uneven at facial recognition body language...
