Wireless Internet?

I had a problem with Qwest where I wanted my own unique SSID instead of myqwest****

So I changed it once. Suddenly I'd get internet access and sometimes I wouldn't

It's like they couldn't find me or something unless I used their SSID

Hunh. Plugged the router back in... turned the laptop on... and everything worked fine. So problem solved I guess!

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Yes, now I recall that doing this once per day seemed to solve most of my wireless router problems. Glad to hear it's working again.

By the way, just out of interest, what's the make and mdel of the router?

I have the Belkin 125. I found that rebooting once per day solved the freeze-up problems. Otherwise it works fine, although I mostly use the Ethernet ports and not the WiFi.

Some routers are more finicky than others. Usually the cheaper they are the more finicky but that's not always the case. Restarting does fix like 80% of most router problems, regardless of how expensive it was though.

I had a crappy Microsoft router that had to be rebooted a couple times a day. Bought it because it was cheap--and got what I paid for.

Right now, I'm using a D-Link router that I got for cheap because it has the (discontinued) T-Mobile Hotspot@Home service built into it. It's a perfectly adequate wireless router in every other way, they were just closing 'em out because T-Mobile nixed that service.
