Windows Majove - Really?

It's pointless going past 3gb on a 32-bit version of Windows XP or Vista, 4gb even more so as neither OS can access that much memory. You certainly can't go past 4gb as there's no way to represent addresses beyond that in 32 bits.

4gb, running 64 bit. Will probably go to 8gb in the next few months.

Ah, that's different.

Yes yes, quadcore and 4 gigs. need the 64bit OS, that's why I'm a Vista fan.

It doesn't help another consumer-level criticism of Vista, though - there's too many versions. XP had the same problem, though.

Leopard doesn't have that. There's one version for home and business users, for PowerPC and Intel users, it's 64-bit and that's that.

This is true. Much easier to buy OSX and all that. Vista has what? 6 version? People are going to naturally buy more than what they need, MS is counting on that.

With XP you had 2 versions in the beginning, Home and Pro, and there was what? 5 differences in Pro? Then later they released the 64bit verison.

^Don't forget the Media Centre Edition. :)

Oh, and the Windows Media-less versions here in the EU that nobody actually wants.

Someday, when I get a laptop, it will be a Mac. I have many friends who got fed up with Windows based PCs who went Mac and never regretted it. Even one of the network technicians where I work couldn't say enough good things about his Mac Pro (and this is a 100% Windows environment).

As for my PC at home, I'll most likely go to a flavor of Linux from my current setup of XP. I'm not going Vista as there's no reason to do so, and I don't believe Microsoft's next O/S will be worthwhile. The MS O/S's are, IMHO, too unstable and bloated to be of any value.
