That's a huge amount of money, one of those figures you can't quite get your head around until some bright journo points out you're now richer than Brad Pitt (or someone).
I don't see how it can't fail to radically change your life, even beyond all the friends and family crawling out of the woodwork, the charities and begging letter etc, how do you handle the friends and family who have always been with you, do you become the guy who always picks up the tab, do you take them on expensive holidays every year, are you patronising if you do or a miser if you don't? And look at it from the other angle, would you want to feel beholden to your mega rich friend?
I like the idea of being rich (who doesn't) but I think I like the idea of having a more low key fortune (if there is such a thing) Enough money that I can provide for me and those closest to me, and treat friends and family on occasion, and do my bit for a charitable cause or two, but not so much that I have to stick my head well above the parapet of my modest castle!
It's like fame, I've never understood people who just want to be famous, why would you want everyone and his uncle recognising you no matter where you go, why would you want paparazzi taking your pictures every second of the day. I imagine it must be nice to have the world revolve around you, but that it gets old really fast. I always quite liked the idea of being a fairly successful author who people barely notice, but then every couple of months have someone excitedly come up to me and say "Excuse me, you are
him aren't you?"
Back to the topic, if I won that amount of money I'd have to do something with it, either by donating a large chunk to various charities and/or by setting up a trust or a foundation or something. I couldn't just sit on it Scrooge McDuck style.
