Spoilers Willow sequel series on Disney+

I saw the news when it was announced, and I'm disappointed, I really enjoyed it and was looking forward to more.

So basically, not cancelled, but not exactly picked up either, so in the mean time, cast can go make money so that they can make a living instead of sitting with there proverbial thumb up there arse.

Beat me to it. I was just about to post his tweet.

Good to know and I definitely feel more reassured that we might get more Willow eventually. I like that he cited shows like Atlanta having long wait periods between seasons. Steaming is making that situation more of a precedence. Of course, British television has been like this for decades so I'm not too bothered by this development as long as there is a strong chance for seasons two and three.

Yeah, I'm glad to hear there's still a good chance it'll be coming back eventually. Didn't The Sopranos go several years between some of it's later seasons?

Sad news, Disney+ is going to remove the Willow series from its roster on May 26th (forcing me to marathon binge watch five episodes of it this weekend).

Why would they do that? Are they going to release it on physical media then?

They're removing programming from their services purely in order to deprive the writers of residual payments as punishment for the strike. Which is a purely petulant move, since the streamers were only paying pennies in residuals anyway, which is one of the things the writers are striking to change.

Seriously though, did people really buy the "We could be back in a few years" line they were selling?

All things being equal, why not?
Worse expensive shows have gotten more. And this was before all the news broke about how streaming isn't all that the studios thought that it might be.

I would just like to know if it's going to be sold/licensed to somewhere else or is this a DISNEY VAULT type situation

Something tells me Disney Vault, but that's pure speculation on my part.

A refreshingly honest and reasonable response. I imagine he knows it's completely out of his hands and doesn't want to run the risk of damaging any chances of reviving the show later on by badmouthing the bosses.

Plus, I imagine he's seen the strong reaction to Willow's removal and decided to let that spoke louder than anything he could.

I believe some of the stuff Warner/Discovery pulled has started showing up on other services, so if Disney follows their lead, hopefully it shouldn't be too long before this and other stuff shows back up somewhere.

Except it's Disney and they don't like to let anything out of their wheelhouse. I'd be surprised if they make deals to have any of their content appear on competing streaming services.

But it would be better for the bottom line if they could still make some money of off them. And they're not totally against handing their stuff over to other companies, the Warner/Discovery owned TNT shows the Star Wars and MCU movies all the time.
