Are you one of the hardcore fans who love series and characters that nobody has ever heard of? Kirk and Shatner are icons. I repeat, Shatneer/Kirk's return is an absolute no brainer.Er, no.

Don't fool yourself. As far as William Shatner returning to the role of Captain Kirk for the current management of Paramount Pictures all boils down to the size of the paycheck.Exactly Shatner's point for never having returned for any other production since GEN (until OTOY's short film). He was always very resistant to any kind of perfunctory cameo-style role. It needs to mean something and be contingent to the plot, not "stunt casting". This was one of the biggest reasons Nimoy and several of the other TOS cast never returned for GEN. Shatner's very protective of his character, and he has every right to be.

All you’re talking about is buzz and ratings. I’ve yet to hear anything substantive about a story that justifies a 94-year-old actor reprising a role he hasn’t played on screen in 31 years.Yeah, Shatner is Star Trek...He's return brings instant positive buzz and is the biggest thing to happen to Star Trek in the general publics eye in decades.
Apparently, there is a group of writers who agree with me and are drafting (or have drafted) a script to include Shatner. Why do you suggest it would be "vapid" or "pointless"?
Shatner's return would bring bigger ratings and more positive buzz than all of Lower Decks and Discovery combined.
Again, people just want the feels. Not depth, not substance nor story. All you’re talking about is buzz and ratings. I’ve yet to hear anything substantive about a story that justifies a 94-year-old actor reprising a role he hasn’t played on screen in 31 years.
A franchise that’s only capable of looking backward is not one that’s thriving. It’s a move of desperation to cash in on nostalgia.
Haha. No.Yeah, Shatner is Star Trek...He's return brings instant positive buzz and is the biggest thing to happen to Star Trek in the general publics eye in decades.

That won't stop Terry Matalas.Bringing back an actor just to bring them back is vapid, shallow, and cynically pointless.
Especially if you have no respect for the quality of the outcome. Are you one of the hardcore fans who love series and characters that nobody has ever heard of? Kirk and Shatner are icons. I repeat, Shatneer/Kirk's return is an absolute no brainer.

yeah... guess he's trying to prove that "can't take it with you thing" wrongMke no mistake. Shatner wants to get paid. That's the bigger issue.
