Will We Ever See a Trek Crossover...

... with another franchise? Doctor Who's first season with Ncuti dropped a hint about 'visiting' Star Trek, and then there was a crossover event involving mobile games, but is it even remotely possible to see a crossover between Trek, and another sci-fi franchise? I know Doctor Who and Trek had a comic crossover, but I'm thinking an on-screen event of some kind.

I appreciate it wouldn't be the easiest thing to pull off, but it would not be amazing if it could be done? What other franchise would best lend itself to a crossover? Star Wars often gets mentioned, Doctor Who too, but could there be anything else?

In seriousness: It really is hard to combine universes, with the result and aftermath keeping it all feeling credible and not gimmicky.

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies wanted to do a Star Trek/Doctor Who crossover on TV, but the cancellation of Enterprise put an end to the idea. RTD did briefly consider using his story idea in the show as something similar to but legally distinct from Star Trek, IE, the Doctor arrives on a Star Trek style Starship with the crew divided into all the typical Star Trek positions, Captain, First Officer, Science Officer, Alien Officer with a Funny Forehead, claiming to be peaceful explorers, but the Doctor would be skeptical of such a claim from an "obviously military outfit." But obviously this idea never went anywhere either.

In the comics, there was also a Star Trek crossover with Transformers, Green Lantern and Planet of the Apes. A crossover with the Alien franchise was planned, but abandoned at the last minute. There was also a crossover with X-Men which was done in both comics and a novel. The novels also did a crossover with TV show called Here Come the Brides.

Right now I'm glad the chances of a live action crossover is remote, as I think it really would stretch credibility too far. It's a great idea for one-off comics though and I hope they never stop making them.

Maybe in a holodeck, though original creations like Dixon Hill and Captain Proton (loosely based on real things though they may be) outnumber real world lit like Sherlock Holmes.
