Will We Ever See a Trek Crossover...

... with another franchise? Doctor Who's first season with Ncuti dropped a hint about 'visiting' Star Trek, and then there was a crossover event involving mobile games, but is it even remotely possible to see a crossover between Trek, and another sci-fi franchise? I know Doctor Who and Trek had a comic crossover, but I'm thinking an on-screen event of some kind.

I appreciate it wouldn't be the easiest thing to pull off, but it would not be amazing if it could be done? What other franchise would best lend itself to a crossover? Star Wars often gets mentioned, Doctor Who too, but could there be anything else?

In seriousness: It really is hard to combine universes, with the result and aftermath keeping it all feeling credible and not gimmicky.

Otherwise, my other reaction (ambivalence becomes me) is:

And I do remember that comic crossover...

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies wanted to do a Star Trek/Doctor Who crossover on TV, but the cancellation of Enterprise put an end to the idea. RTD did briefly consider using his story idea in the show as something similar to but legally distinct from Star Trek, IE, the Doctor arrives on a Star Trek style Starship with the crew divided into all the typical Star Trek positions, Captain, First Officer, Science Officer, Alien Officer with a Funny Forehead, claiming to be peaceful explorers, but the Doctor would be skeptical of such a claim from an "obviously military outfit." But obviously this idea never went anywhere either.

In the comics, there was also a Star Trek crossover with Transformers, Green Lantern and Planet of the Apes. A crossover with the Alien franchise was planned, but abandoned at the last minute. There was also a crossover with X-Men which was done in both comics and a novel. The novels also did a crossover with TV show called Here Come the Brides.

Right now I'm glad the chances of a live action crossover is remote, as I think it really would stretch credibility too far. It's a great idea for one-off comics though and I hope they never stop making them.

If you ever have the urge to read a Star Trek/Alien crossover, the Chris Claremont/Adam Hughes graphic novel Debt of Honor is right there.
From 1992. My friend informed me Mira Romaine has a cameo. Despite his being as big of an ALIENphile as I am, he never brought up the connection. X-MEN 143 was majorly inspired by ALIEN, which Kitty Pryde thinks of as ''that movie.'' Does a xenomorph cameo as Romaine and others did?

Not exactly a xenomorph from Alien, but heavily influenced by them. And not a cameo -- they're the Big Bad.

And the antagonist in Marvel Star Trek #5 & #6 is also inspired by the look of the Alien xenomorph, just done up in bright Marvel 1980 colors.

Star Trek already did a live-action crossover with another franchise.

Hmm. When I first saw the ads for the third Alien movie (the title of which can't be reproduced as styled here, because this board doesn't do superscripts), I read it as "Alien Cubed," and joked that it sounds like the title of a Borg movie.

But of course, 1980s TrekLit already has a crossover with Here Come the Brides, namely Barbara Hambly's Ishmael. Completely unauthorized, but nobody got sued over it. On the other hand, there is some indication that it's a very good, very popular book that nevertheless never went past the first printing. Of the former, there is no doubt; the latter is mere rumor, and I'd quite frankly be delighted if it did get reprinted.

I did not know that this had occurred, and that makes me sad.

I have now watched it on YouTube, and that makes me even sadder.
