will there be an end of time soundtrack?

I would say a soundtrack CD featuring music from the specials is probably likely, though it's also possible now that Gold is coming back for Series 5 that they'll wait to include music from both. For one thing the Specials had no tentpole song, really ("My Angel Put the Devil in Me" had already been released on the Series 3 soundtrack) and they tend to like to have one on the soundtrack.

LOL I made an mp3 of that same thing last week, Will enjoy it until Gold relaeses the sountrack, however i must point out that alot of the music may be seperated like the above ood music with the Doctor Forever.

I also like the music in background playing when the doctor is talking about the nightmare child and other horrors, and whent he master is zapping rassilon. Ah..I like the whole episodes worth of music. :)

Well, I think you're reaching a little bit, but I like "Song of Freedom" so much that I'll absolutely concede the point! :p

On Gallifrey Base, some folks have passed on indications from Murray that a special soundtrack is likely in the spring. And as it'll cover only five episodes, he might go back and slip in some early stuff there wasn't room for on the first three CDs.

Glad you like it too! But I don't believe it's stretching the point. There's nothing that says a song has to be in English, just ask Enya fans. Indeed, Song of Freedom falls into the same sort of category. It has certainly been accepted as a "tentpole" song. Most people who refer to Gold's "greatest hits" tend to list the 4 tunes - Song for Ten, Love Don't Roam, The Stowaway and Song of Freedom (My Angel Put the Devil in Me tends to get dismissed). The case for Song for Freedom is also strengthened by the fact that it was one of the main songs performed at the Proms concert, and made it onto the DVD release of the concert whereas Tim Philips version of Song for Ten I believe was edited out (unless they put it back for the Blu-Ray that came out in the UK yesterday).

The only problem with Song of Freedom is it needs to be put into context, while the other songs don't require any knowledge of the episodes to appreciate.

That's way cool. Hopefully he'll include the short version of Song for Ten from Christmas Invasion so Tim Philips fans can stop whining ;) - it would also count as the tentpole song I mentioned - as well as the original actor's performance of My Angel Put the Devil in Me which had been replaced by a re-recorded version for the 3rd season soundtrack. Gold often references "missing tracks" in his liner notes, so this is a chance for him to close out the books, as it were, before moving on to the Matt Smith shows. The Series 4 album also featured a great "Voyage of the Damned Suite" - something similar for one of the other episodes would be great.

That'd be brilliant. I'm guessing a longer version of "Y.A.N.A." would be a shoe-in, since the track name specifically says it's truncated. And I really, really want the music from the beginning of "Utopia" when Jack is booking it towards the TARDIS and then riding it through the vortex.

Yeah the last rumor I heard is that we could get a specials soundtrack next month but since there has been no formal announcement yet I think the spring seems more logical, March or April. There are tons of unreleased material that i would love to see on the disc as well.

I think March is likely. Looking at what's happening to the BBC website and other things, I think the BBC will pretty much "bury" anything connected to the 10th Doctor pretty quickly once they start airing the new season.* We know that there's a last Tenth Doctor novel (one of the Quick Reads novellas, Code of the Krillitanes) scheduled for release in March, one month before the BBC Books people start issuing Eleventh Doctor novels. And those books are unlikely to be released before the TV show starts. So we have some ballpark timeframes to work with, both in terms of when the new season will start, but also in terms of "old business" releases such as a soundtrack CD.

If that's the case I would imagine Silva Screen Records will announce it pretty soon. I'll be keeping an eye on Amazon!

* "Bury" in the sense that they, quite rightly, will be promoting the new series, and the new production regime.

I have the season 3 and 4 soundtracks on mp3 and CD. I must admit though, i wasnt a fan of Golds in season 1 and 2, but as Tennants character blossomed, we were given great themes for the Doctor and the other key characters along the way. Listening back now to the first two seasons, its great how the music has come along aswel.

Id love a release of the music for the specials. Gold really pushed the envelope to deliver a score of that magnitude for a BBC drama.

I want that pompous Roman theme used for Petrus in Fires Of Pompeii...

My farovites are 3, 1/2 then 4 last. Gold was more 'phoned in' for season 4 IMO.

I think 4 might have been better had the best parts of the Voyage of the Damned soundtrack not been included in 3. (Though as mentioned above I did like the suite on 4). I think they did it so that they could capitalize on "The Stowaway" with 3, since the CD came out not long before Voyage aired.

I really enjoyed the Voyage of the Damned Suite from Season Four. As I stated in a previous post there is lots of unreleased material from that series along with the previous three that didn't make it into the CD's that I would love included, I just can't think of specific music at the moment. As for my favorite soundtracks here is my ranking of them:

-Series 3
-Series 1/2
-Series 4

I think the two Torchwood scores are way better and enjoyable than series four of Doctor Who's score was. I have COE on constant loop in my MP3 player.

The Voyage of the Damned Suite is the only thing I go back to on the series 4 soundtrack. I do think Gold made a big comeback with TEOT, and I can wait till that comes out.

I thought that Turn Left, A Dazzing End, and the Rueful Fate of Donna Noble were all excellent tracks on S4. Davros was good but not great. The good cues from The Unicorn and the Wasp were not included, which was annoying.

Nah, the season 4 soundtrack is fine- The Source, Voyage Of the Damned, Greatest Story Never Told, Rueful Fate Of Donna Noble, Dark And Endless Dalek Night...
