Apparently efforts to convert the original trilogy are proving to be more time-consuming (hence, more expensive) than expected, which makes sense, given the filmmaking techniques of 1977 - '83. Since the soonest we'd be seeing Episode IV is 2015, if Episode I under-performs, Lucas won't necessarily need to spend the money to keep doing the rest of the movies.
