Do I want the next doctor to be female? No (unless it's Joana Lumley). Do I think the next Doctor will be? Probably. :( Well if Moffat's still running the show anyway then it will be. But I think this is a bit too soon to be trying to prep the public for a female doctor.

Well I think Moffat tried to prep us for an older Doctor by having the War Doctor be old and then having Smith age into an old man. So having The Master regenerate into a female form is probably prepping us for a female doctor. I just hope they don't plan on getting rid of Capaldi early, he's one of the best Doctors so far.

Personally I think an outrageously camp male doctor would have been pretty good, it'd be unique to the show and a more interesting take on the show.

I honestly don't know if the next Doctor will be a woman. I know I won't be surprised if a woman is cast.

To be honest, I'm not sure if the next regen will be female, but they've certainly got the option. I'd be fine if it was, though. I think it's an idea well worth exploring.

I'm not sure, I think I need a mid range option of "Will the Doctor after next be a woman." Given there's only 2 options though I'll go with yes on the basis of a greater probability.

I think they should cover all bases and make her a black disabled lesbian in a wheelchair just to make the Sun melt down.

No, not the next Doctor. But eventually, quite possibly. Just because the Master is now a woman, does not necessarily mean that the Doctor needs to be a woman now too.

Shouldn't that be in SPOILER TAGS considering it's less than 24 hours after the episode aired and some of us haven't seen it yet? It's not as even this thread is discussing the episode where the revelation is made.

This could be a genetic transfer that will haunt the doctor in the future

Thats a bad way to find out - bad luck if you got spoilered on anything.

Episode is about more than anything that may or may not have been stated above in thread, still worth your time.

They're already planning Capaldi's exit?

Don't they trust him to stay longer than a few weeks?

Have they noticed him being figitive?

"Oh, please. As if I'd ever lower myself in that way! There's no improving on (practical) perfection. Pregnancy, childbirth - far too messy. Can't conquer the universe with a brat strapped to my side. Besides, children are for those who don't plan to live forever..."

Apologies for that. I had just been reading through the spoiler thread for the episode before I came here and was swept up in the moment when I wrote that. Sorry, didn't even think. :(

I don't think the next Doctor will be a woman, although its probably a higher possibility now then its been since the show came back. I'd still watch the show regardless, but having a female Doctor won't be my first choice for the next regeneration.

Well, since we have MISI, I think it depends upon how long Capaldi stays in the role. If 3 or less years, I'd say probably not the next one.

If he's in the role for 4 or 5 or more years, then yea, good possibility
