Will the new enterprise be larger than the TOS?

I'm OK with it so far, but to me a real test would be a multi-angle, slow movement, like the TMP drydock fly-by, or better, in TUC where battle-scarred Enterprise turns in an evasive maneuver during the battle with Chang. That was a stunning display of the design.

I like the new ship alot, with just one exception - the arched nacelle struts.

In a way it?s kinda cool and very retro - in that in profile view the ship seems to have straight up and down struts much like the originals, and unlike the TMP refit?s very slanted struts.

However, front-on the curvature puts me off a bit.

Yeah, the whole dislike of curved nacelle pylons is a head-scratcher for me.

So, how is it more acceptable to have an abrupt 90 degree l-shaped pylon, but not one with a gentle curve to it?

The Excelsior has the l-shaped pylon, as does the Enterprise C.

It's not - the L shaped ones look bad too imo.

Heck, it's just a completely subjective opinion, not any kind of exact science or anything. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over it if I was you.

Hey, wait a tick...

Would you please check out the TOS Enterprise/NuTrek Enterprise comparison in post 5?

Look at the bridge domes... Assuming that they both have the same diameter (although I very much guess that the nuTrek Enterprise's bridge is even bigger than the TOS Enterprise's), then the primary hull of the nuTrek Enterprise must be MUCH bigger than the TOS Enterprise's!!!

:eek:That's why I've been saying the NU-ENTERPRISE is much ''BIGGER'' then TOS Version, it has ''GOT'' to be for the shape of this ship to make sense!:wtf::confused:

That may be true. The Engineering deck, which is apparently essentially rows of brewery tanks, probably takes up most of that space.

Are you saying that in this alternate timeline, they've found a way to warp space by brewing a solution of barley and hops?

Good God, man! The market in Dilithium must have fallen through the floor. No more bugging the Hulkans!

Sorry if I stated - in your eyes - something so bleeding obvious. I simply didn't follow all your posts.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/CaptApril/Comparisonfinal.jpg I think this NU ship ''will' be Longer & bigger then the Original, just look at this ^ there is no way the NU-ENT is going to be the same size ( Length, anyway) the O-ENT. And if it is the same size as the O-ENT, then ''SOME''body must have been smokin some Mighty Powerful STUFF! Oh, and did anybody monkey around with the O-ENT's nacelles? it looks like they have been shortend!?

The size difference can't be TOO great - the windows, airlocks, and people on the gantry cranes in the shipyard scene are pretty damn close to what they would be with the original 1701.

I just went through my collection of nuTrek pictures and stumbles over two photos in particular... one of the earlier publicity shots with the U.S.S. Enterprise crew (sans Spock) on the bridge, gathering around McCoy, with what seems to be a window in the background, and another one with Spock standing in front of another wide (and I mean wide!) window... these seem to be the three windows on the bottom of the bridge dome.

[The picture is a Tobias Richter CGI, so it might not be entirely accurate.]
