Will Shatner be in Trek XI?

With all the talk around here on this subject we need a poll to get the definitive answer. We all know that the general opinion on this site carries a lot of weight
So does Shatner.
at Paramount. So what say everyone?

My personal opinion is he will be in the film and all this whining he's doing is a publicity ploy. I don't think he'll have a huge role to play,
If he's in there, his role will be huge. Huge is all he can play any more.
but we'll see him in the movie.
When William Shatner sits around a movie, he sits around the movie!

NEEDS to be in it. How can they have a movie based on the original series without William Shatner :brickwall: C'mon paramount!

Pretty easily, actually.

Given Shatner's behavior about this, he's lucky he's dealing with such mature and openminded producers. ;)

^ So you're in the 'It's not a publicity stunt' camp?
I still think it's a studio ploy to start building hype around the movie. Shatner is coming across fairly petulant, so much so that it just seems off to me.

Nice photo manip in your av by the way. Pine looks good in the uniform.

Thanks.

Yes, I'm quite certain that it's not a publicity stunt.

That said, the producers have pretty quietly said more than once that they'd like to find a place for him in the film. Robert Orci has said that they might go into production without having made any decision, which they evidently have.

Shatner's public acting out is not anyone's idea of a good thing - probably not even his own - and isn't making anything easier for anyone.

Maybe if they have to go back in the past to save the whales.

He could play the whale.

Maybe if they have to go back in the past to save people from a jackass who lobs poorly-crafted, moronic, and childish insults against an accomplished and talented actor.

You could play the jackass.

No. Absolutely not. Shatner's Kirk is dead.

True, and sayin that, Deforrest Kelly nor James Doohan will be in it for obvious reasons, so you have a point BUT Shatner isn't in the same boat as the other two and should ATLEAST make a cameo, wether it be in a dream or whatever.

Shatner will definitely NOT be in it. Abrams didn't seem to want Shatner in the film. Shatner sounds pissed that he wasn't invited. It seems to me that the role that was proposed to Shatner was a cameo just as Nimoy's role in Generations would have been and Shatner probably balked at this.

As explained elsewhere Abrams is shooting 2 films back, one with Shatner and one without. This a very clever marketing strategy to boost profits as trekkies will flock to see both films twice so that can compare notes, quadrupling their revenue stream.

I agree that Shatner is acting like a tool. That said I hope the writers are big enough to offer Shatner a role.

Not to satisfy Shatner's ego, but to satisfy Kirk's many fans who hate the ending he was given.

Is Shatner telling the truth when he says he has not been offered a part?
