Will Sam and Dean ever trust each other again? (Supernatural)

I would think after Season 5 that the brothers would stop lying to each other or keep secrets from each other like they did before which would always end in disaster. I was hoping they would trust each other again the way they did in Season 1. Do you think they'll ever regain that level of trust at the end of this season?

It's early in the final season so far but I would hazard to say that probably one of the goals for this season is for the brothers to come closer together. Of course one of the reasons why they lie to each other is to protect one another, much like Clark lies in "Smallville".

Admiral Young, though I hope Season 6 is the final season, I haven't received any official news that Season 6 is the final season.

Even in the first season neither brother was honest with the other and each kept secrets. They absolutely trusted each other to watch their back and to be able to depend on one another in a fight. But honest. Nope sorry that hasn't really ever been a part of this series.

As for lying to each other, so for there is no direct evidence that either character has lied to the other.

Clearly Sam could have in the first episode to spare his brother the emotion bomb that was dropped, but nope he was completely honest to him instead.

Perhaps not lying but they've kept stuff from each other in order to protect each other, or in Sam's case in this season's opener to help Dean have a good life.

The look on Sam's face when Dean hugged him--it was strange. It wasn't uncomfortable; they're past being embarrassed hugging one another. It was just plain strange. I'm wondering if Sam's soul is still captive in the pit, or if he's beholdened to Crowley or something worse for getting him out. Dean's breaking point was torturing other souls to get off the rack. Maybe Sam sold out to end his torment....

^ I don't think it's as sinister as that but there was something strange in that look, I agree. The way he was acting while trying to convince his brother that it was really him was weird.

There's got to be some other reason Sam didn't tell him he was alive.

While I wouldn't be surprised if the writers do indeed give us something else. I am just working with what we have so far been given.

And another point of evidence. Sam apparently approached Bobby. Bobby agrees with what Sam did.

Would Bobby do that if he thought Sam had some ulterior motive? Besides Dean there is no other person who knows Sam better.

And if he did indeed have something to hide, why tell Dean he's been out most of the year? That just doesn't make a lick of sense. It implies that Bobby would also be in on that as well, and do we buy into that?
