Will Rachel Return As Catwoman in Batman 3?

Aike

Commander
Red Shirt
What do you think is Rachel dead or will she return in the next Batman movie as Catwoman?

Since we didn´t see her die, I find it very likely she´s not dead. Nolan won´t end this trilogy with another dark ending. And the butler didn´t show her good-bye-letter to Batman.

Have you actually watched the movie? She was locked in a building that was blown to smithereens. How could she possibly have survived? We didn't see her die because of the frigging explosion!

She's not coming back as kitty litter, never mind Catwoman.

Yeah, I have seen it. But how do we know that the Joker gave them the right address?

You don't read a lot of comic books do you?

I don't think she'll be back, but it'd take a lot more than an explosion to ensure the permanent demise of a Batman character.

Because Batman found Harvey's two-face coin at the site of the explosion which had been in Rachel's possession.

You know, I wouldn't put it past Nolan to have Rachel actually be Talia al Ghul, which a lot of people seem to speculate from time to time. I kind of seriously doubt it but hey, you never know.

Yes, but that´s basically the only proof there is. Did we ever see her with the coin when she was tied to the chair or whatever it was?

If not, the Joker could have put it there.

This isn't a comic book. Did you miss the bit where Nolan said he was trying to do a realistic, real-world take on the Batman mythos?

Here are two possible plots for Batman 3:

1. Rachel did die. But only metaphorically. She will become Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, and Batman will have to face his worst nightmare: fighting the woman he loved and thought was dead.

2. Rachel didn´t die. But will be Batwoman and help Batman in his battle against Catwoman. From the FAQ of The Dark Knight on IMDB:

Catwoman. In The Dark Knight, Lucius Fox and Batman discuss the new Bat-suit. Batman makes a comment about the strength of the suit, asking if it would be able to protect him from large dogs. Lucius says it should protect him from "cats"-- a possible reference to Catwoman. Note that in Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne, pretending to be drunk, refers to all his guests as "two-faced phonies." At the end of the film, Batman is given the Joker card. That means that both the main villains used in the sequel were referenced in the first film.

I'm sorry, but this has to be one of the most clueless questions I think I've ever heard. You claim to have watched the movie, but, if that's true, you obviously weren't paying attention to what happened. Batman, in following The Joker's instructions, was going to try and save Rachel - the woman he loved - himself, while entrusting Gordon and the police to rescue Dent. It turned out, however, that The Joker had switched the addresses; the location where Rachel was supposed to be being held was actually where Harvey was being held, and the location where Harvey was supposed to be being held was actually where Rachel was being held.

Catwoman = Selina Kyle. Even I know that.

Rachel could change her name;)

I appreciate the thought you're putting into this... and stranger things have happened. Tonally, I just don't think either scenario would fit in with the world Christopher Nolan has created.

That is pretty much a contradiction in terms. Neither of Nolan's films were realistic. The notion of doing a "realistic, real-world" film about a billionaire who fights crime in tights is nothing short of laughable.
