Will AfterMASH come onto DVD ?

Maybe its like Godzilla 1998 (Broderick), which was a good monster movie, but not a good G-film. The creators of A-MASH should have called the show 'Homefront', rather than drawing instantaneous comparisons with an uber-classic by including the big brand name in the title.

I remember a good show that fell down, while a lot of you remember an effort that should have never been. I think a DVD release would settle matters, once and for all.

BTW, it should be noted that A-MASH was an alternative to a 12th Season, because most of the actors felt it was time to end it-we weren't the only ones seeing recycled storylines, jokes, and an edge of preachiness. However, Morgan, Farr and Christopher disagreed, and CBS wanted something of MASH to keep on. I think I once heard network interference at play in the fall of AMASH S2.

In the late 80's, when I first saw Brent Spiner talking to her on TNG, I took one look at Keiko and said 'Hey! That's Klinger's wife' :)

The way I see it, if they put Galactica: 1980 on DVD, why the hell can't they do an AfterMASH treatment?

I agree. It didn't work as well as we hoped, but what sequel series does, barring a radical re-invention like 'Frasier'?

Three's A Crowd - 'Company', without the girls or landlords

Sanford Arms - No Fred, no 'Son'

Archie Bunker's Place - No Meathead/Little Girl, little or no Edith or House

Chicago Medical Professional Building - 'The Bob Newhart Show' with just the other doctors, and that annoying old lady replacing Carol

In A-MASH S1, they were trying to build a similar but different show. In S2, the network adage 'If It Ain't Broke, Get A Team On It Right Away' was sadly adhered to.

Thanks, Christopher. That one was a phony. One time, on a thread about live-TV shows that became cartoons, I posted as one 'Mary's Major Mysteries' featuring the MTM bunch as crime-solving teens. No one caught it out. You've restored my faith. :D

Well, in their defense, if I didn't know any better, I'd be far more likely to believe that was a real show than a Happy Days cartoon in which Fonzie and the gang travelled through time with "a future chick named Cupcake."

Or the Partridges as the Jetsons, or Punky Brewster as a world-trotting gal, or The Harlem Globetrotters as The Impossibles, or Laverne and Shirley commanded by a pig with Arnold Horshack's voice....

Well, "AfterMASH" also was a play on the word "aftermath", so it worked (more or less) on two levels.
