I'm no fashion expert myself.
I guess I think of catsuits as being a tad tighter. Like, T'Pol had a cat suit in early "Enterprise" seasons, and a jumpsuit later. Like, jumpsuits look like you can breathe in them. Or like you could put a coin under it and not necessarily be able to read the date.
Like I said though, I know nothing of this stuff.
Indeed the Maquis were integrated because Janeway and Chakotay both wanted it to happen.
Kes was basically the doctor's assistant and helped in other ways occasionally while Neelix did cooking, being a travel guide(and I imagine giving some intel on local species, politics, dilithium deposits etc...), and ambassadorial work, while occasionally serving in a security capacity.
