The idea came from an article from this site:

In it, it talks about the failure of Nemesis, and mentions Insurrection briefly as well.
Nemesis seemed to me to be too... revenge - cliche. I was actually very curious to see it, especially because it involved the Romulans and the plot of the Romulan Empire being overthrown, only to be disappointed.
It was mainly about Picard's clone, and how angry he is. He's angry and he complains.
His anger seems really missplaced to begin with, should'nt he have been more angry at the Romulans? They are said to have mistreated him.
He has a super weapon and a super ship and is determined to destroy earth and the Federation. It's then a race against time as the Enterprise chases and tries to stop him.
It seemed too formula and unoriginal - and even at this point they
still don't mention the Dominion war very much! lol. In fact, they step right over any of the DS9 crew and give Janeway a cameo appearence.
There were just two many subplots, technobabbles, and cliche characters in the film, at least in my opinion.
The energy could have been more well spent with a DS9 movie, especially since Insurrection failed.
