Why the hatred for Voyager?

Well actually I don't mind that you hate DS9 with all your heart and love Voy, my gripe is that I dislike VOY because it made Star Trek de-evolve instead of evolve. It took two steps back instead of atleast staying in the same footsteps of DS9

Blame UPN and Paramount's reactionary stance for that, not the show itself. There was little that could've been done.

Think it is time to stick with Voyager as the topic is “Why the hatred for Voyager?” not “Why the hatred for DS9?” Unless we have nothing to hate about Voyager I think it is time to move on.

Well VOY was their weapon of mass destruction ;)

Think there is a difference with Voyager and BSG, even that they want to get to Earth there is a difference.

Well that's my whole point.

Voyager and BSG are about as different as two shows with a similar plot can be. In fact nBSG exists only because RDM was dissatisfied with Voyager and wanted to do an anti-Trek.

Sure, if Voyager had taken a few more risks it would've been a darker and better show, but the tradeoff is that we wouldn't have BSG as it stands today.

To quote Adama, "I won't question that outcome."

I never said I hate it. I never said I "love" Voyager "with all my heart" or any other bodily organ.
Why must you argue in absolutes?

I said it wasn't my cup of tea, for a lot of the same reasons I didn't watch "West Wing." I don't 'hate' any Trek and I certainly remember some episodes of DS9 fondly. And I don't think Voyager was "two steps back." I've been watching Trek since TOS first run. Voyager is Trek. So's DS9.

Over and out of this thread.

The BSG is the darkest sci-fi series ever produced, it has a story, it has conflict, and it has everything that produces the worst of humanity. Voyager, even being lost always had hope of returning to Earth, it just filled airtime for seven years until it returned home, even if it had conflict and a cast member died there was always hope, the worst of humanity was like dealing with elementary students.

With BSG, nobody not even the cast members and the writers have a clear clue how the series will come to an end. With Voyager, it was a no brainer how the series was going to come to an end.

Darker than Blake's Seven?

In the beginning he was jailed for being a pedophile and in the end everyone dies.

BSG had twelve planets nuked and the total collapse of the fleet …

The Federation fell and reverted to barbarism in Blake's Seven after thousands of ships went against one another decimating both forces.

I know both shows well enough, and I'm adjusting Blakes Seven for inflation.

Didn't they use a MEGA big re-set button in reference to one of the leads? Starbuck, right? Not quite Dallas's bringing people back to life, but close.

Yeah. A bit like those reset buttons in LOTR, Buffy, Babylon 5 and the Bible. :)

No it's actually been set out as part of her destiny which Leoban predicted in the first season. In "Flesh and Bone" he said he would kill her and he lead her to her death. And the cycle if death and rebirth is a prominent theme in the show as well so it's hardly a reset.

You can't expect Voyager fans to think such things are possible that things happening in episodes a year earlier, in a previous season or in the previous episode to have any impact on a running 40 minute story. It's like Plato's Republic. Don't rock the boat.

I think you need to keep your assumptions of people you don't know to yourself. ;) To do so is not only rude but very ignorant as well. It also has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

This is one thing I'll never understand about some posters on this site. They think they have the right to judge others & their lives based solely upon their opinions of a stupid sci-fi TV show. :wtf:

Nah, I see the Alien movie series as one of the darkest ever made. Now THAT is a hopeless universe.

NuBSG has become too much of a soap opera to me, I stopped caring after they did that mega-reset button for New Caprica.

Honestly, lots of the stuff we hated in VOY is there in nuBSG.

The first Alien movie was good, than it started to decline with each movie it made. What will the next Alien movie be, Alien vs Freddy + Jason + Chucky

Chucky would kick all their asses.

He's voiced by Brad Dourf, ain't nobody (next to John Malcovitch) is crazier than him.
