Why So Little Superbowl Hype This Year?

Probably because Arizona is playing...

I mean if Detroit was playing, none of the networks would even notice in time to reserve rights to air the game.

Now, if it were Detroit vs say, a shitty high school team, I'd watch. Just to see the Lions lose another game.

100 yard touchdown SIMPLY WOW

How come no running thread for superbowl ?

Yeah, I was wondering. I woldn've expected with Arizona's extreme underdog-ness there would've been a thread.

I haven't checked but I suspect that, oh I don't know, the Sports forum might have one or two Superbowl related threads... ;)

There's some "related" threads but no live commentary thread with constant commentary.

Really? That IS a bit surprising I guess.

It's a pretty engrossing & up and down game though; I can understand why people might not have time to watch & be online. I've only just got back online myself and will turn off again now to watch the last couple of minutes.

Running commentary thread for a football game, especially the Super Bowl would be weird. Hard to type with a beer in one hand and a chicken wing in the other, plus, your laptop would go flying off your lap everytime you jumped up when the Steelers pounded AZ some more.

That last part made me think of a prison movie...

Your mind goes to interesting places. Anyone ever tell you that?

But it's a great trip! :techman:

There's been one for as long as I can remember.

There was plenty of hype, just not as much glam and such because of the
economy, this was a much more grass roots event. Seemed more to focus
on the game itself rather than what celeb was going and what party to attend.

I actually liked the feel of it better this way.

Man, I was really hoping the Cardinals would pull it off. They came close, too. Oh well, congrats to the Steelers, I guess.

Yeah, how it was for my Rays. The good part is, just like them, the Cards
are young and if Warner stays may have a shot at it again next year.

And be a bit more prepared for it knowing it's possible.

Screw your Rays, they beat my Red Sox! :p

:p Yeah well at least it wasn't on a bad out call or something. ;)

Great ending to the game! :)

Actually, that was the one part that was crap. It was a great game, but to have it end with a whimper like that, on a questionable call that apparently got no review...

Not saying it would have been overturned or not, but they didn't spend 2 seconds reviewing a call that decided the outcome of the game? :wtf:

I heard some Arizona viewers were treated to a somewhat different sort of climax altogether....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7864733.stm

The interruption happened just after the last touchdown by the Arizona Cardinals, who lost the match to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Better than Archie Gemmill scoring against Holland in 1978? :bolian:
"I just figured it was another commercial until I looked up," viewer Cora King told the Arizona Daily Star.
:guffaw:
