Why no front windows at DarkStar in Topgun Maverick

Happy Hopping

Lieutenant Commander

why would they design a plane at the beginning of topgun maverick , that there is no front windows? All that plane has : windows on the left / right. But you can't see anything in front of you. Is that practical ?

I do not like the men on this spaceship. They are uncouth and fail to appreciate my better qualities.

it's a materials and design question - look at high speed test aircraft over the years - (X1, X-15 etc) and they've had very small forward windows right upto to the SR-71.

The front is section is where you're going to get some of the highest temperatures and pressure so you want them to be a strong and heat resistant as possible. Heat disapation is also probably a factor.

In the cast of the Darkstar, having the nose section as complete chunk of titanium (or whatever was used) will work better than a glass or perspect which would probably melt from the extra heat.
