No idea. I know some people like her, she doesn't interest me.
Because MTV told me to like her, ......Brains, Brains.
Her songs are serviceable, for the most part, but not especially innovative or even very complicated. She's a talented performer, but where Gaga succeeds most is in presentation.I'm going with people like it and she's visual.
Yep - and as T'Baio says, she's awesome.
As for "groundbreaking"...what does that have to do with musical popularity? It's novelty that gets attention in pop music, not innovation - sometimes the two go hand-in-hand, and sometimes not. Gaga is extraordinarily talented, and quite independent.
I initially dismissed her and agreed with those who classed her as another media manipulator. But the more exposure I got, the more I grew to like her. The Fame Monster is a great, compact dance-pop album I can listen to over and over.
What I find kind of interesting about Gaga is that she has developed a loyal following among a range of "outsiders" - gay and lesbian teenagers, overweight girls, nerds, arty types, etc. and yet also has huge mainstream appeal with her music. That opens the possibility that she will (perhaps) be a little more than a two-year wonder as some have predicted.
The recent Times article by Caitlin Moran reveals she's a pretty cool person, too. I just hope she doesn't develop an ego.
I didnt know Justin Bieber was black! If the kid was any whiter he'd glow.Did you know that Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are one and the same person?
I didn't know Lady Gaga was black!
It seems that Lady Gaga is everywhere these days, to the point where her name has become almost synonymous with contemporary rock. Her music's catchy, but I don't see what makes it stand head and shoulders above all of the other stuff that's coming out. Is her music really that groundbreaking, and if so, how? Or are there other reasons that she's so popular right now?

Here's why I like her:

Visual evidence to the contrary? Is there a "clever" point you're trying to make here?I didnt know Justin Bieber was black! If the kid was any whiter he'd glow.I didn't know Lady Gaga was black!
Really? I thought he was a 30 year old black "singer"? He only sings with 30 year old black guys and he did get nominated for a BET. I just assumed he was a black man and I was color blind.

I'll just haul out the same quote I always use in such discussions.

That's a tough pill for a lot of people to swallow, but there's a lot of truth to it, nonetheless.
I can't name any of her songs, don't recall hearing any of her songs anywhere, and hope it stays that way. She doesn't interest me in the slightest. Just another in a long line of boring, famous-for-five-minutes pop stars. No-one will remember who she is in 10 years. Like Katy Perry.

Interesting that you call her boring when you have never heard any of her music.
