true, but schools and research institutions and sports fields are a bit different than "secret facility used by nefarious section of the government/starfleet that should nit exist" XD. given the contents, i think calling it "The Menagerie" might be more appropriate...Can’t be multiple things be called “Daystrom”? In real life famous people’s names are attached to schools, structures and places all of the time.
you don't just have giant floaty things hanging around your local college ? maybe it's the storage facility for all of the evil computers. maybe it's a specific lab. maybe it's just the local town.BTW when we did see Daystrom in S1 what was the giant floaty thing nearby just hanging there in the sky?

This why JL was shredded in First ContactI'm sure after Picard went to the trouble of removing Kirk's body from under the metal bridge, carrying it all the way to the highest point he could find, finding some rocks and burying him he will have thought to say 'oh by the way i buried Jim kirk up there can someone pick his body up at some point"
According to Geordi, that was the whole reason the Enterprise's saucer was recovered from Veridian III. Even novels written in the 90s reflected this, though they had the saucer dismantled rather than moved off the planet's surface.
How did we ever end up in a world where the "Shatnerverse" novels were more logical than onscreen material?
Isn't there an Otoy video showing a bunch of ships positioned above the saucer on Veridian III and lifting it up? Shows there was no dismantling done in canon.Dismantling or restoring the saucer in a space dock probably makes more sense as those places are meant and equipped to do that, so you would not have to move the necessary gear all the way.
Yes, but OTOY isn't actually any more canon than the novels are, they're just a little higher up in the food chain. That said, I do think it makes more sense that they would try and lift the wreckage out in such a manner rather than dismantling it on the surface because that would be less intrusive to the planet.Isn't there an Otoy video showing a bunch of ships positioned above the saucer on Veridian III and lifting it up? There are some vehicles with tethers shown, but they are not shown lifting anything and there are only a few of them at the front of the saucer.Yes, but OTOY isn't actually any more canon than the novels are, they're just a little higher up in the food chain. Oh, I'm sure that there was more to the procedure than what we saw in that brief snippet of the video. There are some vehicles with tethers shown, but they are not shown lifting anything and there are only a few of them at the front of the saucer.
...Plus, if they did lift the saucer off planet in one piece (my assumption also!) I'd expect them to use tractor beams rather than a bunch of little ships with ropes.![]()
