In a SNW series Kirk would around 24 years old. Pine is currently cruising through early middle age, the CGI crew would have their work cut out for them..Well, as long as he's played by Chris Pine he does.

I know, but we don't know who would play Kirk (if anybody) so I was talking only about the actors that have played Kirk so far.In a SNW series Kirk would around 24 years old. Pine ismuch too long in the tooth for that role.
Strange New Worlds, the Pike show.Sorry, but what's SNW again?? Thanks.
Well, it does add continuity, which is important. Doesn't have to be a big role, a few appearances in a season would be plenty.I hope they don't have one, a yeoman assisting the captain adds nothing to the show.
Exactly. Assuming IMDB is correct, Grace Lee Whitney / Yeoman Janice Rand was in eight episodes.Doesn't have to be a big role, a few appearances in a season would be plenty.
Although she was supposed to be in more, just in the end they ended up using a different yeoman (like in The Galileo Seven) or just wrote the yeoman out all together (like in City on the Edge of Forever).Exactly. Presumably, the show will chronicle a five-year-mission commanded by Captain Pike from roughly 2258-ish to 2263-ish.
Bad gourd placement.Neither does a lot of possible crew positions if not well written and cast properly, why have a bartender? Well, if the bartender is interesting that a reason by itself. The same goes for a potential yeoman.

Ghastly color.
When you have an idea and it hasn't fully ripened yet.Bad gourd placement.
Annoying as it is, you're probably right.Probably happen though.
To be clear, I really don't want to see Jim Kirk appear on SNW, played by anyone. But but but...In a SNW series Kirk would around 24 years old. Pine is currently cruising through early middle age, the CGI crew would have their work cut out for them..
Really? I always thought Shatner in his Kirk days was a strikingly handsome fellow. He's always got that charismatic twinkle in his eye....I was really just saying in the hypothetical case of a hypothetical SNW version of Kirk being characterised as the handsome young guy on board, they have to cast someone who's significantly better looking than Shatner was in the 1960s (which wasn't very much, imho)
For visual reference, William Shatner about age 24:(And to bind this post together a bit, I'd say young Shatner's more attractive than young Pine...)
Well tastes differ, but I always found him rather unattractive. And I also think he looked like he was in his mid-40s when he played Kirk.Really? I always thought Shatner in his Kirk days was a strikingly handsome fellow. He's always got that charismatic twinkle in his eye.

I prefer Pine.
