Why do we never see Yeomans any longer?

In a SNW series Kirk would around 24 years old. Pine ismuch too long in the tooth for that role.
I know, but we don't know who would play Kirk (if anybody) so I was talking only about the actors that have played Kirk so far.
So I was really just saying in the hypothetical case of a hypothetical SNW version of Kirk being characterised as the handsome young guy on board, they have to cast someone who's significantly better looking than Shatner was in the 1960s (which wasn't very much, imho)

I vote this guy:

Or they could do it as a noncasted (?) role, like Maris on Frazier or Chef on ENT, always mentioned... never seen.

(TATV rightfully excluded, of course. :barf:)

Cheers,

Exactly. Assuming IMDB is correct, Grace Lee Whitney / Yeoman Janice Rand was in eight episodes.
Although she was supposed to be in more, just in the end they ended up using a different yeoman (like in The Galileo Seven) or just wrote the yeoman out all together (like in City on the Edge of Forever).

In a SNW series Kirk would around 24 years old. Pine is currently cruising through early middle age, the CGI crew would have their work cut out for them..

In "The Deadly Years", Kirk said that he was 34 years old during his competency hearing. If he was wrong, nobody bothered to correct him despite making an error about his age being a rather clear example of failing memory. So he was probably correct. in "Shore Leave" Kir said his first year at Starfleet Academy, when he was aged about 17 to 22, was 15 years earlier, thus making Kirk about 32 to 37 in "Shore Leave" .

The official, though possibly not correct, chronology puts "The Deadly Years" in 2267 and Shore" Leave" earlier in 2267, and says that Kirk was born in 2233. The official chronology claims that Spock served with Captain Pike on the Enterprise from 2252 to 2263, when James T. Kirk was aged about 19 to 30.

So what is the precise fictional date of Strange New Worlds?

Presumably, the show will chronicle a five-year-mission commanded by Captain Pike from roughly 2258-ish to 2263-ish.

https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-release-date-trailer-cast-timeline#:~:text=Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a new ongoing TV,being because fans wanted it.

When Kirk would be about 25 to 30, assuming that is the correct fictional date for Strange New Worlds and assuming that the official chronology is correct..

Menagerie suggests that Kirk and Pike only met at the handover, so having Kirk appear in SNW would be a tweak. Probably happen though.

To be clear, I really don't want to see Jim Kirk appear on SNW, played by anyone. But but but...

"Early middle age"? Chris Pine is still in his 30s, for heaven's sake!

Really? I always thought Shatner in his Kirk days was a strikingly handsome fellow. He's always got that charismatic twinkle in his eye.

(And to bind this post together a bit, I'd say young Shatner's more attractive than young Pine...)

Late to the thread. But I think one of the TNG era shows should have had a Radar O’Reilly type character. DS9 would have been the best choice.

Senses something coming through the wormhole before the station sensors does...

At least there was one on Stargate SG-1

Well tastes differ, but I always found him rather unattractive. And I also think he looked like he was in his mid-40s when he played Kirk.
Not that men in their mid-40s can't be attractive, there are many who are. I just thought Shatner looked unattractive and older than he probably was in TOS. And rather than "charismatic" I found him sorta slimy
Truth be told that's why I always found it kinda silly that so many women throw themselves at him during the series, when he looked so "blah".

I prefer Pine.

I mean I'm not very into blond/Nordic looking men in general, but with Pine I can at least buy that he's a hunk/particularly handsome.
I do think Jean-Luc Bilodeau, the guy you posted earlier, is more attractive than Pine and if (IF) there really has to be a Kirk in SNW I hope he ends up looking like that.
(Id still rather not have too many already established characters in the new series tbh)
