Why do people love''WARS'' more then''TREK''?

Because Star Wars was a vastly better made and more entertaining film than any Star Trek film - at least until next week. Same was true for The Empire Strikes Back.

I would have absolutely loved to have seen some Ewoks chowing down on some Stormtroopers. The look on the faces of the Rebels would have been priceless.

mmmm tastes like chicken

That should be the caption for that terrifying animated Wicket/Cindel picture. :rommie:

...Which actually touches on another apples and oranges example - film versus television. Small-screen Trek has indeed IMO been more successful and of better quality than big-screen Trek. (So far. :))

Gotta disagree with you there. Wrath of Khan was as good if not better than both of the only good SW films (the first two made back in the 70s/80s.)

Any franchise that has Episode One, with its child protagonist, Jar Jar antics, and accidental victories; cannot tear strips off Star Trek, I'm sorry.

I like Star Wars (the original trilogy). But the prequels? Voyager and Enterprise are better than those.

I've always liked Trek more than Wars. It makes you think more. And there's no muppets.

Star Wars tells a story, set in a universe. It is a classically old story of mythic proportions, told in a futuristic fashion, broken into 6 chapters.

Star Trek tells us about a universe through multiple stories. There are much more and a greater variety of stories.

The former is much easier for the general public to relate to.

Star Wars is like LOTR or The Odyssey. An epic about good v. evil.

Trek is like Paradise Lost or Canterbury Tales. An epic story spanning many centuries, with a wide variety of stories.

:eek:That would have been GREAT! and may have shut-up alot of Ewok bashers we have today! But then it would not have been PG rated, and unless PG-13 was beeing used at the time (Don't belive it was) I think the movie would have been R! Oh well!

A rated R Star Wars film would have been awesome.

And kids would have still snuck in to see it.

And just as long as lucas dosen't get his hands on it! I thought a PG-13 star wars film would ROCK! I was wrong!:(

At the end of ROTJ (the original version for sure, I don't remember about the SE), there's an Ewok banging on stormtrooper helmets like they were drums. Wonder where he got those from? ;)

Haha, nice! I hadn't thought about that. And I'm pretty sure it's still in the 'edited' Special Editions - I think they only changed the song there and added the cuts to the other planets. ()

As a SW fan who is glad to have ST to pass the time b/t movies, I think the best comparison is to look at SW like a John Wayne western and ST like a UNFORGIVEN-style Eastwood western....both are great, but one requires a different mindset than the other....

Right now in the arena of media hype both Trek and Wars are playing second fiddle to a group of adolescent, emo vampires that sparkle.:vulcan:

This cannot stand....we need to have a crossover where the Wookies go to war against the Klingons....and wipe the memory of emo vamps from pop culture.... :techman:

Or the Klingons and Wookies team upand kick everyone's asses.

Yeah, try telling the REAL Kirk to let the wookie win. He'd pull your arms out himself, then beat the wookies to death with it, then use the decaying digits to fingerbang the nearest babe.
