Don't worry, in a year or so, the focus of the bashing will probably shift to Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, and then the heat on Abrams will probably ease off. Nothing to do with the relative quality of their products -- every new incarnation of Trek becomes the focus of complaints from the purists who can't stand that it's different from what came before. Even the now-beloved TWOK was bashed quite a bit when it first came out.
Yeah I agree that anything ''New'' does tend to get bashed in my experience at first and then as the years pass by the balance is more even after the passage of time.
Personally speaking I like the new films (well the first two at least, can't comment on the latest one yet) not saying they're perfect as there are flaws but I like them overall.
And I say this as someone who's been watching Trek since TNG was new so it's not like I'm a ''newbie''.
