Why did StarTrek.com take down the Fan Galleries? Where can I find the images that were there?

Can someone please tell me why on Earth (or any planet, for that matter) StarTrek.com took down the Fan Galleries? I know the Forums on that site were in bad shape, but they should have left the Fan Galleries online.

Anyways, does anyone know where I can find all the images that were posted there?

Because it costs money and the cost benefits of it were smaller than closing it down?

Because they don't respect the fans .. and it cost $$ to maintain as Dimesdan said.

But, perhaps you could find some of it maintained through The Way Back Machine.
