Why did NBC cancel Dog Eat Dog Game Show?

I've been known, when a contestant gives some really stupid answer on a game show, to quote Ann Robinson's signature line, "You are the weakest link; goodbye."

Now that was an awesome show.

And unfortunately, the fellow who hosted the daytime U.S. version (did he also take over the evening version?) could not even come close to her icy demeanor, and the whole show depended on the host being completely and utterly unsympathetic.

I understand that she's much nicer when out of character. Then again, Duras was much nicer than Ann Robinson's "Weakest Link" persona.
