^The montage would've been a lot more palatable if it even acknowledged the existence of space programs which weren't at least in part American (to exclude the ISS--built to rain death upon the Indian subcontinent during the Eugenics War, no doubt).
This is Star Trek, for crying out loud, the show which gave us a nationalistic Russian on the bridge at the height of the Cold War--they can't acknowledge the heroic flight of Yuri Gagarin? Or how about the handshake in space? That would've been nice and very Trek.
