Why did everyone hate "Faith of the heart"?

^The montage would've been a lot more palatable if it even acknowledged the existence of space programs which weren't at least in part American (to exclude the ISS--built to rain death upon the Indian subcontinent during the Eugenics War, no doubt).

This is Star Trek, for crying out loud, the show which gave us a nationalistic Russian on the bridge at the height of the Cold War--they can't acknowledge the heroic flight of Yuri Gagarin? Or how about the handshake in space? That would've been nice and very Trek.

"Learning to Fly" by Pink Floyd would have been a much better song to have used than "Faith of the Heart," which always stuck me as a little childish.

I mean, "Learning to Fly" would have fit the show perfectly, right down to the title of the song itself -- which, if you think about it, was basically what Ent was supposed to be all about.

Russell Watson's were better than Rod Stewart's, though. Rod is too husky and throaty for a song like that.

What is your opinion of the Enterpise theme song, "Faith of the Heart"? It seems like the vast majority of people hated that song with a passion and thought it was out of touch with the science fiction nature of the series.

I am in the minority. I like the song.

I liked it but didn't love it. What really gets annoying when watching ENT DVD's is the end theme music they started using at some point after the pilot.

I loathed the song when the series started. I stopped watching the series after about 6 episodes, before going back and watching all that I'd missed during Season 4, and as I got into the series the theme grew on me. I remember very clearly, starting a new episode and catching myself singing along...and wondering "When did that happen?" When did I stop hating the song. lol. I quite like it now though.

"Archer's Theme"?

Most of us in here liked that selection. I can't say it should ever have been used for the OPENING music...but for a closing theme it was pretty acceptable and sorta nice to listen to.

Russell Watson's version was preferable to Rod's. As I said above and earlier, Stewart is way too throaty and husky to do the song justice. Plus, Rod would have made Paramount pay him out the ASS to use his version in a weekly TV show...and I'm sure the studio didn't want to be beholden to a mercurial, aging rock star.

When I heard it for the first time (when 'Broken Bow' hit the TV sets for the first time, back when I was still living in Australia), I hated it with a passion! I really could have blown chunks each and every time ENT was on the telly!
However, years have passed since then. I didn't watch all episodes at the time (no wonder, since it was shifted around from one timeslot to another, skipping episodes along the way) and started to regret it, so I decided to buy the DVD sets late last year... and what have you? Somehow I thought it fit perfectly to the series (which was so very different in comparison to the other incarnations of the franchise) and to the time it was made (you know, George W. Bush's America somehow left its traces throughout the entire run)...

Has anyone been watching the Virgin 1 promos for Enterprise in the UK? (for those of you with Sky). They have a pretty cool advert for the show which grinds to a halt with the caption "Shame about the theme tune though" with the bridge crew looking at each other in silence before Archer says "Can't argue with that", before the advert resumes.

It was too lovey-dovey/emotional for me. It did not get me excited for the episode, as was the case with the other series' triumphant/bold music. I appreciated the change to the more upbeat/up tempo "remix" in S3 and S4.

Also, there is always resistance to change
