I trust you'll enjoy your stay in Montreal, Ghislaine! A few years back, there, I had a girlfriend who was from Jolie. Unfortunately, she was bilingual and preferred English over French, so I didn't get to use it much with her. But for a birthday present, she gave me some books on how to improve on my French, so maybe that's why! Anyway, you wanted to know why it's so hard to accept Mulgrew's decision on not allowing a Janeway/Chakotay relationship.
For me, it's because it held Chakotay back, I feel. It weakened his character - and I know I've said this, before. I mean, yes, he still got laid by other women ... here & there ... along the way. But they all had the same problem: They weren't Kathryn. Even when he finally got with Seven, you know - you just KNOW - that he would've preferred it was with The Good Captain. And that's not how it should've been. Chakotay should've taken a leaf out of Riker's book. Chakotay played the game too straight. That's another part of the problem. He's one of my favourite characters, but when it comes to women of the opposite sex, there's only one that will ever do: the only one he can't ever have. Didn't Chakotay suffer enough hardships and deprivations, as it was?
