Why are they still keeping "the secret?"

Everyone remember the episode '2010'? Where the Aschen allied with Earth and made the SGC make the Stargate program public? well the people seemed to take it well then, they had transporters zapping people all over the Earth and I can't see why the show can't introduce that again but using Asgard or ring transporter tech, how hard could it be to show something like an airport but with a ring transporter in it aswell.

That was the aftermath of having all of that, but who knows how easily and well the people really took it when they were initially told. It is this initial revelation that they will have to tackle. Like you, I suggested they come out of the gate (pun intended) baring gifts that fix real-world problems, then it will be accepted by the people better.

It is this initial revelation that they will have to tackle.

But they DO NOT need to tackle it, that's the beauty. The writers really don't need to dwell on it too much at all.
We see a Wraith attack on Earth, at the end of the film we see the worlds people gathering together to watch an announcement from the President of the United States who discloses everything about the Stargate, the film then ends there. Everyone who watched the film now knows the people of Earth know about the Stargate program, they didn't dwell on it they simply showed it being disclosed at the end of the film.
In the next film or TV series they can now set it as being maybe a year after disclosure was made (as you put it, the aftermath), the SGC is still running as usual and we learn simply through people talking about how the worlds people and governments took it and what the worlds nations are doing. We can maybe see a scene at the beginning of the film of an SGC soldier walking into an airport standing on a ring transporter and zapping him/herself to Cheyenne mountain or something like that.

IT'S THAT SIMPLE!

In 2010 there was the benefit of public revelation of the gate also came with news of an alien race who seemed able to solve all of Earth's problems. That probably calmed the public down quite a bit.

Of course, for another take on how public revelation of the Stargate could go, look at the alternate reality in The Road Not Taken.

I think when the world learns we brought about the end of the Goa'uld, the end or the Ori and in my movie idea the end of the wraith and that we have the most advanced technology in several Galaxies if not more at our finger tips, the Earths population will be put at ease.

If they don't deal with it and the changes it brings head on then it'll be a cop out and another reset button.

What do they need to deal with? what needs doing that a few sentences here and there can't solve?

This is one of the biggest secrets in hte history of humanity, it'll lead to changes in technology, science, history and religion, This isn't the kind of thing that should be handled with just a few sentences at the end of a DVD movie, it'd be the basis for another series in it's own right.

No it wouldn't, they're not going to suddenly dish out advanced Goa'uld/Asgard/Ancient technology just because they disclose everything, all they need to deal with is telling the people of the world about the Stargate. After that we can have a few changes to the setup of Stargate, a few mentions here and there about how the people took it and what the worlds governments are doing about it. Sure they can release a bit of tech here and there such as transporter tech but after disclosure the writers can take all of that steady, the Earth isn't going to suddenly change beyond recognition within a single Stargate series.

IT'S SO DAMN EASY TO DO THIS!

Agreed. It would be so pointless to do it with a few throw-away lines and scenes. It would be incredibly fertile ground for a few DVD movies (or a series). Just my two cents, though.

But, really, what's the point in revealing the Stargate to the public unless the story has a purpose? What do you gain out of it if you're not going to spend the time to tell the story?

Maybe because *not* doing it is really starting to strain the credibility of the show(s)? (what little is left)

I certainly realize they are between a rock and a hard place here... But this is a situation entirely of their own making. They had two (relatively) easy opportunities to "make the SG program public" - Anubis attack and the Ori attack. But they choose to do it at neither time, and now it is more ridiculous than ever.

They were going to do in the movie version of The Lost City but the series was renewed again and again and again, so it's not entirely their fault and nobody really seems all that worried about it.

It might be an interesting story in theory, but what part would our lead characters have to play in it? A threat to the life of Teal'c or Vala would be completely obvious and cliched, and none of the other three are really diplomats. Woolsey and Weir would be the most involved, and while I might like to see their part in it, there would have to be something else there to make it marketable.
