I haven't seen much of Lutrell aside from Atlantis. She doesn't speak to me for a captains role.

What do you think of Morena Baccarin as a first officer?
A few suggestions.
Ross Kemp. Seems a very genuine guy who did a great job as the ex-soldier family man who's life was spent battling PTSD and bad influences (Grant Mitchell).
Amanda Tapping. A sci-fi veteran through Stargate but now more 'mature' and a viable seasoned captain... If you can look past her previous character and embrace the new one.
Chiwetal Ejiofor, probably off doing big productions but a fantastic actor who can do intense and approachable in a stride.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dina Meyer get another shot at Star Trek. She was one of the few standouts in Nemesis. Not to mention that she's also gorgeous.

She's been a pretty major character the last few seasons. I'm not sure what her schedule is because I think she's still on it. But she would make an interesting captain.
Eww no. She specialises in being a 2D caricature of the 'Latino hardass', simply content to sneer her way through every script that lands on her agents desk.
If given a choice of the Hispanic/latina actresses then it has to be the gorgeous Morena Baccarin, although I can't help but feel that someone a touch older would be more suited. IMHO.
Yeah, but she dates other women, therefore meeting everyone's LBGT requirements, AND kicking ass.
I could see her as a security officer or something, but Michelle doesn't really have the right personality for "captain" in my view. She comes off too gung-ho and "tough girl" ... I mean, that is her acting schtick. It just doesn't quite gel with what I think you want in a captain.

Also, the more I think about it, the more I really like Gina Torres as a captain. She'd be great.
Lena Headey would also be another one of my top choices for female runners. Loved her in 300 and Dredd. She'd be great as a very strong leader with equal balance of diplomacy and call to action.
