Just read the news on TVLine, Michelle YEOH will play the role of Capitain Han Bo of the (USS) Shenzhou. Now, let's wait to know the name of the actress who will be Lt Commander.and serve as Number One... .
At the same time, when you look at it more closely, there is a certain logic: TOS and TNG were led by 2 men (Kirk/Spock and Picard/Riker) officiating as Capitain and First Officer; DS9 and later Entreprise were led by a male Capitain and a female First Officer; Voyager was led by a female Capitain and a male First Officer. Now, we have 2 female commanding officers to lead the vessel (hey, 50 years to come there but you'll see, some Trekkies here and there won't watch just for this reason!) though, I wonder if the said capitain won't be incapacited during the season 1 and her Number One should replace her... .

I assumed the female Lieutenant Commander would be on Discovery rather than Shenzhou.

I don't care who is picked to be the captain of Discovery but, if it had to be a male character (though my preference would go a female one, as I already wrote!), please, no romance between this character and the female Number One!

I vote for Nathan Fillion but I agree with others that it would be nice to have a female captain and a female first officer (or at least have Captain Georgiou and a female officer). I think other good choices for captain would be: Marg Helgenberger, Jessica Chastain, Gina McKee, Jackie Chan (I can dream), Sean Pertwee, and Christopher Judge.
