Lea Thompson is a Star Trek fan? Where did you hear that? I never have. How about Lea Thompson for captain? She's the right age, a trek fan, and is not currently committed to another series.
Gina Torres or Nathan Fillion would both be brilliant choices.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest the person I would actually most like to see sit in the center seat. Yes, I know I'm recommending a white dude. Sorry. I feel that character is more interesting than labels. Bruce Campbell. And, yes, I'm serious.....
She mentioned it when she was the celebrity guest on "Whose line is it Anyway" last week.Lea Thompson is a Star Trek fan? Where did you hear that? I never have.
Given how utterly different the two franchises are, how do you think FIrefly fans would react if anyone from their show turned up in Trek?

I honestly think they'd be stoked to see Fillion in something good again (the man was born to do scifi) and the same goes for Torres. The shows are so different from eachother too, like you say, so there probably wouldn't be much confusion. No one's mixing up Harrison Ford's roles in Star Wars and Blade Runner.
As a typical browncoat and 20-year Whedonite, I'd react very well to Nathan being captain, although he'd have to get back to his Mal weight (ideally his Caleb weight). His Castle weight won't fly unless they add jokes about him constantly breaking his replicator from over-ordering.Well, no, of course there won't be confusion, I was just curious how the typical Browncoat might react if someone from their show turned up on a "rival" like Trek.
And whoevever it ends up being, I'm fairly sure it won't be Alan Tudyk, who has had some rather unkind words for Trek and its fans in the past - I believe his specific quote was "Star Trek is for pussies"...
Although if I had to pick a Firefly actor to do Trek, it would probably be Jewel Staite, as the Romulan Commander from "The Enterprise Incident". I'm sure Charvanek's out there in DSC's time frame, after all...
The thing is I think hes just a fine actor, ohhhhh, doctor! He can be the doctor! They were saying a "British doctor" is in the show. Oh great now I have my hopes up for no reason lolHe would be fine, and he could play it bald, so he could do x-men during hiatus
Actually, how weird would that be if somehow he ended up playing a younger Picard.
Stop following me!, says Patrick
I do that all the time, but yeah, he's still bankable at the box office so it will be a few years before "extends his boundaries" to tv. Or back to tv, I should say of Leto II of Arrakis. The thing is I think hes just a fine actor, ohhhhh, doctor! He can be the doctor! They were saying a "British doctor" is in the show. The funny thing is I remember that last time I checked he didn't have anything planned passed another xmen after apocalypse, I just checked now he has four upcoming movies. Was starting to get worried he's get typecast.I do that all the time, but yeah, he's still bankable at the box office so it will be a few years before "extends his boundaries" to tv.
