Hey be nice, he was a green Federation boy on the wild wooly outer rim with those big eared capitalists he was warned about at the academy. PEOPLE MAKING MONEY. How was he supposed to cope, he was a money virgin. Poor child.

I'm noticing that not many seem to hold Harry Kim in the high esteem that you do, teacake. Let that be a lesson to you! Now you know how I feel when I'm forced - OK? - FORCED to defend Kes from you people ...

But I don't defend Harry. I just sit him down and comfort him with home baked goods. You bad people only serve to soften him up for me.

We still - STILL!!! - do not have a CLEAR winner in this poll, although, as of this writing, Libby has the lead by one point. Personally, I much preferred him just being celebate, holding out for his sweetheart, back home. And surely ... she's waited for him, all of this time ... faithfully ... and with baited breath. Seeing him with hotties broke my suspension of disbelief.

Am I expected to believe that you, at no point in time - not even in the very beginning, when this poll first appeared - had your finger poised on the "None of the Above" selection? What stopped you? Must you see your name in lights? Must it be spelled-out so exactingly? "None of the Above" has a "T" in there ... and an "E" and an "A" ... yep, I'm seeing the "Tea" option, alright. That's pretty damn near it, if you ask me ...

I really really wish I could pick Tom Paris but I can't quite choke it down. Or Harry can't. Or something.

Damn you VOY, opportunity missed.

Besides, it was Quark he was really longing for. Why else would he look at that junk at the bar? It was Quark's junk he was after.

I chose Seven of Nine. It just seems that's what they should have done. I always felt that the writers (and the cast in some cases) messed Voyager up from the beginning; especially where characters' romantic relationships were concerned (though not as badly as TNG did).

I can't remember what the title of the story was, but I was reading one of those Myriad Universe novels of short stories and in one, when Voyager severs Seven from the Borg, the Seven personality gets destroyed and she starts out as Annika. As Annika, she was like a naive teenager. Harry, also being young and naive, took it upon himself to help her through her new circumstances.

Was that the same story where they create a Federation in the Delta Quadrant, find peace with species 8472, and Janeway has a kid with Chakotay?

Well I don't agree. I think he is sweet and not specifically "boring and bland". He's playful, he likes to hang out, he likes to poke fun conversationally at people (as I recall anyway, and yes this may be mostly Tom's doing). He's up for a laugh. Boring and bland is Geordi La Forge. The only time I didn't like Harry was when he sassed the Captain with his horribly cringeworthy "have you every been in love?" speech which is really his gazelle scene for me.
While I agree, it's also what made him boring next to more colorful personalities. I liked Harry but what held the character back was that they made him a follower instead of trying to be a leader. It's why I don't feel he deserves a promotion. I don't see anywhere in all 7 years Harry showed any ambition to be more than an Ensign. He never felt passionate about anything to advance his career. He wasn't any wiser upon returning home than he was the day he left.

He was passionate about getting home, which made him a whiner when they didn't.

He just needed to age a bit.. look at him in Timeless! Real life kicked him in the gut and he grew up.

I agree, he's a follower on VOY. I just don't think that makes him specifically unattractive.

Um no.

Timeless proved that he didn't grow up.

He spent 15 years obsessing on one moment of his life that he got wrong at the sacrifice of everything else that could have been formative.

He spent 15 years not making new friends.

That's thousands of buddy abortions created by his prolapsed moral compass to save a hundred and 42 people.

Bad math, such awful math.

There's an apocrypha called the magic pussy which is supposed to answer all the questions in the universe.

At the Bottom of Tessa's flower, all Chakotay found was the urge to kill himself, and the audacity to take the rest of the universe with him.

There was something sceptically untold about that woman's motives.

WHAT are you talking about?! Obviously she loved Chak SO MUCH she was willing to give up everything, possibly even her entire existence to save him from the torment of knowing those he loved the most (not her) were dead. I bet her last thoughts before she either vanished or appeared in a totally different Chak oblivious timeline were "finally he will have the peace he has so tirelessly sought and he will be back in the possibility of Janeway's arms again."

It's a romance.
