Yes the actress was pregnant, and no it wasn't a real baby inside the plotted constraints, but consider the implication of not just manifesting a full womb on her athletic little frame, but contriving a backstory that this pregnancy was an inadvertent production of spying too Close to the Nazi Chain of Command... That's some fucked up shit to weigh on her character, especially considering what back alley abortions were like in those days that she could have done her self serious harm WHEN she decided she no longer needed the "thing" in her belly to maintain her cover (What Chakotay felt about Seska harvesting his sperm times 2 billion.) because the French in those days were hard.
Despite direction from on high, Harry Kim was designing (writing code) and implementing the programs. Did Harry inflict this inside her for some reason? Did she piss him off? Spurn his advances? (Doesn't that make him the father?) The Kazon might have been punishing her? Because lets face it, Harry was not the first person that the Hirogen would have chosen to caretake their new Holodecks for the duration but Lieutenant Torres would have been and after they made her the house slave, she done something brave and failed (resulting in how many casualties and punishment, that Harry might have double helpingsly punished her too for failing to save them all.), creating a situation where her new masters all but leading her about in a collar, might believe that they had to punish the halfling by awarding her super shitty identities for all their ongoing hunting games they were involving her within... Or it could have just been a prophylactic to stop Tom and B'Elanna mounting each other, a frantic frightful sight which EVERYONE was getting a little bored of, that no matter what parts the two star-crossed lovers were playing, they would always wangle it that they became the greatest love story ever told... It would actually a bit of a laugh for Harry and the Hirogens (Worst band name ever?) to produce additional ever more ludicrous obstacles to their happily ever afters, making it harder and harder for true love to win out.
Or simply that the computer was just randomly generating characters and Lanny matter of factly drew a bum lot just this once?
