Whoopi Goldberg wants to appear on Doctor Who

Looks like Joanna Lumley from Curse of Fatal Death.

It is. The running gag in the comic involved the Doctor "tearing" through the regenerations, constantly getting "killed' like some hapless redshirt. I think Capaldi was the incumbent Doctor when this was scripted and Whittaker had yet been announced.
So it's kinda' prescient that the comic concludes with the Doctor in the form of Lumley, flirting with Captain Kirk no less.

I think the very idea of a black woman becoming the Doctor would send some people apoplectic with rage (not me, though, long overdue IMO) but maybe a guest spot on a Christmas special could be in the offing?

Jo Martin was the first, and won me over in under a minute. She's a stellar actress (no pun intended) and she wasn't another incarnation influenced by Tennant. Even her dialogue was better than Chibnall's average, which is astounding given her mocking of 13, the sonic screwdriver, etc... Unless she is the Master in disguise, which is not implausible but not in good taste to do either....

...which is another idea being bandied about that may as well be mentioned, even though the dialogue intricacies of Fugitive Doctor render it a bit unlikely*: The idea of the Master tampering with the Matrix makes far more sense, which means it's probably not going to turn out to be that. If it turns out the Master was doing a phony Doctor, let's see RTD undo that the way a lot of people are putting a lot of faith into... I know, bring back the same style of series 2 and bring back a Tennant-like persona, complete with spacejeebus traits... I'd rather hope RTD has more creativity than to redo what he already did over a decade ago...

* then again, Chibnall can be so hit or miss with script details, even his Dalek story does sod all with getting 13 out of space prison - apart form a whim - than to use a different point in time and save that prison issue for a better time when he could really flesh things out better... oh well.

I mean, I feel bad admitting to this, but as much as I like Jodie Whittaker, and I enjoyed her more the second time I watched her two series last year, Jo Martin just grabs your attention instantly. She has the same commanding presence that the Doctors do, and really reminds me of Colin Baker or Jon Pertwee in how take-charge she is. I'd love to have seen her in these past two years instead, and its a shame she was a stunt casting of Chibster's to promote a shitty storyline like the Timeless Crap or whatever.

Yeah she has screen presence, and as good as Whittaker can be at times, the one thing she's always lacked is presence, she just doesn't grab your attention, and too often kinda fades into the background. Jo Martin you can't ignore, she demands your attention.

She also has a way better outfit that Whittaker does!
