Who would you want to write for Star Trek?

If there was one writer who's never done anything for Star Trek before, but for whatever reason you think they'd probably have an interesting slant on the Trek Universe and probably do a pretty good job, who would it be? :D

I'd love to see Peter Jackson make a movie, but I don't think he coun't as a "writer" since he mostly remakes what other people wrote.

Tom Clancy
Greg Rucka
David Fontana
Kim Stanley Robinson
00's Ron Moore

I would like to see established science-fiction authors submit scripts for Star Trek as they did for The Original Star Trek.

That's what I'm talkin about.

I'm actually very excited to see what Orci & Kurtzman do with Trek XI. I'd also like to see what would happen if JJ Abrams himself wrote something. Or maybe Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

I'd kill to see something by Joss Whedon. And Tim Minear.

Also, though he's obviously written for Trek before, I would love to see what Ron Moore (and David Eick) would do with Trek now that Berman isn't in charge.

I'm pretty strongly biased against Moore right now... but I'd still enjoy seeing a script submitted by him. I'd hope it would get a thorough re-writing (ala Roddenberry's style) to make it fit with what Trek is supposed to be. But it would be interesting to see how he would do without the Beebs. I've always sort of attributed more of the ugly stuff from his Trek-era work to himself, not to the Beebs. But I'm not going to have a closed mind on the issue.

Stephen King. "A Wolf In The Fold" and "Catspaw."
Dean Koontz.
Anne Rice.
Glen Cook. "Passage At Arms" one of my favorite novels ever.
Tom Clancy.
Terry Brooks.
