Who was Future Guy going to be?

Captain Barnaby! The insidious meddler of time!

I'm going to give him a first name and it shall be JT. JT Barnaby. Sorta... flows. Like a cheap lawyer.

Speaking of which, I'm still sticking with my Cogley hypothesis for Future Guy.

I never thought to ask this but since Enterprise was cancelled and all (years ago), who was Future Guy supposed to be? I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but the thought just dawned on me to ask. I figure the least that the writers could have done with this failed series is reveal to us who they intended on Future Guy to be unless it was like most of the writing and was really going nowhere with no direction. Thanks

It was Wazzo

Rob

I still think after seven years that Future Guy was originally going to turn out to be a Romulan from the 28th or 29th century that was trying to change Earth and Klingon history in the Archer era to prevent the birth of the Federation and/or his people's loss in the war that happened at roughly the same time.

B & B admitted they had no idea who it was supposed to be, and that they'd probably reveal it "I dunno, sometime. We'll just make something up."

I don't know why they never considered the obvious possibility of making him a Romulan. Unless they did, but then dismissed it because of UPN's mandate about no Romulans or very few (not sure if that's true or not, someone feel free to correct me).

With the actor playing him I thought Romulan but to be honest B&B should of come up with a better plan especailly after 3 seasons they still had no clue.

B&B should of come together with a plot worthy of a prequel (like TOS type missions & UFP) instead of putting in time travel.

Unfortunately, it showed. If one begins to analyse the whole business of Temporal War too closely it comes out as something completely illogical. :(

Didn't help that the only reason they had the TCW was because the UPN suits forced it on them in order to make the show more "futuristic".

Maybe they didn't. But that shows how much more creative than the damn writers the average fanbase could be at times. And let's face it, in "Broken Bow" it did kinda seem at moments as if you could see pointed eartips or maybe even the bowlcut shape of a Romulan hairdo on Future Guy's head silhouette.

Maybe it was Blast Hardcheese.

Damn you, Squiggyfm. Damn your secondhand references.

What are you insane, BigJ? Thanks for completely ruining the plot of the upcoming movie for me. No "spoiler alert" warnings. Nothing. I read right through it and knew too much before I realized what it was I was reading. I appreciate you're help in making this next movie a spoiler-free one for me.

MODs---perhaps you can put a "spoil alert" warning on this thread so someone else doesn't read something they don't want to.

I don't know, I guess maybe it would have been somewhat interesting if it turned out to be Nero. I mean, in Star Trek XI it looks like the plot centers around this Romulan that seems to go through great pains and effort to kill off James T. Kirk because Kirk is the sole reason why the Romulan Empire never fully proliferated :wtf:

So Nero could be written into some "Enterprise" novel as having been the one who was doing the whole Cold War thing because at first he didn't have a time machine to go muck up things himself and was only able to do it through hologram. Because naturally, between Archer and Kirk, they are the reason the Romulan Empire never fully proliferated :wtf:

Unlikely, since the Beebs are no longer with the franchise and Paramount has tried to reinvigorate TREK with newer ideas. But it's a light year better than the NEMESIS script and "TATV" that's for damn sure.

I agree. What the hell?? How does BigJ know the plot? I also feel cheated, but I'm a little relieved in trying to convince myself that Paramount would not make 2 consecutive Treks about Romulans, esp. considering how the last one did....

Well I confirmed the new Trek will have Romulans... ugh.

You honestly didn't know that?

The Romulan story element has been confirmed, though the actual plot is rumor and speculation at this point, but it's been around since last spring.
