Who was Future Guy going to be?

It might be cool to be a Starfleet commodore at HQ. Just to wear one of those funky hybrid uniforms with the modern-looking neckties and say I was one of a small and select handful of actors in all of TREK history to be a commodore in the franchise.

Just did a quick check at IMDB.com to see who played Future Guy and I see it was a guy called James Horan who has been a voice actor on Trek games as well as several characters in episodes in Voyager, DS9 and TNG. In TNG he has played two characters and one was Starfleet in the episode Descent as Lt Barnaby. So there could just be a chance that it could just as likely be him, but a future version of him.

Just throwing in a possibility.
James Horan was one of the actors who auditioned for the role of Commander William Riker along with Bill Campbell (1st choice), Jonathan Frakes (runner-up), John de Lancie, Jeffrey Combs, Christopher MacDonald, Vaughn Armstrong, etc.

Future Guy could have been....GOD!!!! Totally turning TREK into a Jesus Christ Affirming television show!!

Obvious question here...

"What does God need with a time machine?"

Hm? Big talk from a little man like me? What's he gonna do, thrust rocks up from the ground and shoot at me from his eyes? Look like I'm gonna need me some Klingon bastards.

The sad truth is you're probably not far off the mark, TCW and TFF leading into one another? Stranger things have happened ;)

Heck, why not.

Another Scott Bakula series had God as a bartender in 1950s Indiana during a coal mining accident.

Given Rick Berman wrote "A Matter of Time" solo, he could've revealed a connection in that direction as a suitable fix. Plus it fits with the obsessive TNG references done... Holo technology, Ferengi, Risa, Borg, Dr Soong and that unspeakable finale.

Perhaps making him the original owner of the Time Pod stolen by Berlinghoff Rasmussen.

Some irony in Future Guy meddling with 22nd Century history, finally gets the technology to go there... but gets hoodwinked (maybe killed) by Rasmussen.

I thought future guy was Darth Sidious? I mean that sso obviously where B&B got the idea from (the whole prequel idea in generall lets be hones hEre)

Sidious/Palpatine would have had the balls to kill Silik after he screwed up so many times.

If you're a genetically-altered shapeshifter who can blend into backgrounds and you STILL can't whack Jonathan Archer? You suck.

Whack Archer? Silik acted more like he wanted to fuck him. Seriously, he had this creepily polite attitude toward Archer.

"I'm sorry if this hurts a bit, John."

"Just relax and you'll enjoy this, John."

Guess I wasn't considering the OTHER definition of "whack."

You're all wrong. According to a certain writer close to the show, they had decided Future Guy was

Sorry, can't say or I'd have to kill you. They adapted the idea for STXII.

Future Guy was Peter Griffin.

"He he he he he he...you said Vulcanized Rubber."

Woudn't it have been a HUGE plot reversal if:

DANIELS WAS FUTURE GUY!!!

Seriously...that would have been BIG. To think that Daniels and his superiors had been manipulating events...so as to mold the timeline to their liking....

NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH....

Well, in my opinion Future Guy was going to be... HENRY ARCHER!

"Jonathan... I am your father"

Clark's Disease might beat getting your nuts burned off in a lava flow.

Maybe Daniels, who was more or less Human, was a Romulan who hated his own anscestry - the Romulans for what they did to him and was trying to ethnically cleanse himself.

Daniels a part-Romulan? Who knows. Even in the 24th century Starfleet officers like the part-Romulan guy in "The Drumhead(TNG)" looked mostly human even though his grandfather or grandmother had been a Romulan and that lineage had been covered up. By the 31st century maybe there were so many hybrids running around you couldn't tell one from the other without a DNA scan.
