Jedi Mind Meld :D
Obama defenders will say he was smart (like in article above), Obama attackers will say he is an idiot. Take your pick :D

Twitter at the time reacted accordingly:

He's one of us. I think he got it wrong on purpose. He's trying to nudge the needle a little. He knows Star Wars is socially more acceptable, but he's going to work in the Star Trek reference anyway, even if he's only taking a half-measure by putting it in Star Wars drag. ;)

I also voted for him twice, so there were are. I'm living up to what you said. :p

A brief moment of carefree abandon, while trying to ignore the dark clouds gathering on the horizon, before the fascists completely take over and plunge the world into disarray and destruction? Seems pretty likely actually.
Replace fascists with socialists and it’s very accurate.

No. If socialists take over America will finally get a working healthcare system.

You know, I'd rather pay upwards of 10% of my salary for medical coverage rather than have 90% of my salary taken by government and then have "free" medicine.

Heh...
Technically, every time the Government creates a program that gives the "People" money back in some form... (including massive amounts to bail out troubled Banks, Farmers and Auto Cos.)
That's Socialism.

The USA has been a Capitalistic country with MANY forms of Socialism since Franklin D. Roosevelt was President back in the 40's.
And even with The Donald sitting in the White House that hasn't changed.
(though he and Mr. Mitch are trying like Hell)

... and now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

But seriously, where is the sub-forum already? This is what happens when there is absolutely nothing happening and people are waiting for something to happen. Trump was already brought up, and we're a post of away from invoking Goodwin's law. Give us the forum already!

Yeah buddy, because here in Europe where we have government run healthcare system we totally pay 90% taxes...

Also, not does USA only spend more of private money on healthcare than any country, they also spend more public money (ie. your taxes) on it than most counties, the compared spending being utterly astronomical. And the results are not so great.

So think about this when you next time feel like posting memes about stupid voters.

And to tangentially tie back to the topic, I really find it hilarious that people like you like Star Trek, TNG in particular. They don't only have free healthcare, they have free everything!

And WHY is it always necessary to throw INSULTS into the mix ??????
And WHY does it always seem that it's the more Conservative folks who go there First ?????
:wtf:

Just for the record, I have been an Independent voter since I first registered back in 1976.
I have voted for members of many different parties through the years (including the two major ones), hoping on each occasion that my vote meant our Country would progress ever so slightly more, toward Civility and Equality for everyone... not just the well off.

Obviously, we still have a loooong way to go.

... and that is all I'll add to this OFF-TOPIC discussion ...
