I personally would love to see them again, poor interpretation (if it happens) or not. I would rather they try than play it safe.

Quinto isn't actually related to Winona Ryder and Ben Cross. Other people can play his parents.
They just drove Spock right up to Discovery's front door in that finale. There's absolutely no way he's NOT appearing in S2E1. If the pulled up Pike on the 3-D communicator and he said "Oh, Spock's on vacation. Sorry.", that would be a pretty big middle finger to the audience.
It creates unnecessary brand confusion, since STD has already recast Sarek and Amanda.
Why push Quinto from the movies onto STD, when they didn't do the same with Sarek and Amanda?
It would be really lazy.

He appeared in American Horror Story for two seasons and didn't break the bank. If FX can afford him so can CBS All Access.
I think they could get Quinto. He has already returned to tv and is hosting that show about UFO's. He hasn't exactly made it big in the movies and Spock is proably his more high profile movie role. I still think he would be expensive but they were able to get a few of those type of actors in season 1 so I think he would be doable especially since he wouldn't even be a regular. I would suspect he might be in 2 to 3 episodes at most.

I linked to the interview earlier in this topic.... If the producers made it clear they don't want Spock to appear, that's what I;m going with for now.
I like Anson Mount as Pike, definitely! My thinking is that if they are not planning on showing Spock, then maybe the reason for the distress call is that some of the crew (maybe several landing parties) have been abducted or held somehow, Spock included. So we'd see Pike and some others in the crew, but maybe not Spock and Number One, as they would be part of the abducted.
That's what happened in David Mack's book "Desperate Hours", Mack set Georgiou up against Pike. With Pike looking like a cross-between Kirk and Picard. Since that book took place on the Shenzhou, if it's being taken as canon, then this isn't Burnham's first encounter with Pike and the Enterprise crew. Except here, Pike would outrank Saru, who is only acting Captain, however, both are outranked by Ambassador Sarek.
after inhumans, i have a hard time imagining any anson mount performance that doesn't include this face for every emotion:

however, toby kebbell is a brilliant choice to play spock. and sexy. i'm down with sexy spock.
It isn't.
Ambassador isn't a Starfleet rank, and neither ship is currently on a diplomatic assignment. Sarek has zero authority.
