Who should become the next Doctor after Whittaker?

Anjli Mohindra? I haven't seen her in anything since SJA, but IMDB shows she's been pretty busy.

The girl who played Rani in The Sarah Jane Adventures.
I wouldn't mind her just showing up as Rani again in some capacity. The last Doctor she saw was 11, so it would be fun to see her spot the TARDIS as she strolled down an Ealing street one day, then excitedly run over to knock on the door, only to be surprised when Jodi's Doctor opens the door. :D

I hardly think so. I imagine someone aged 18-22 really, think Colin Morgan in the BBC's Merlin.
If you're going to pick someone from Merlin, how about Asa Butterfield? He's 20 now, so if Jodie Whittaker decides to take off in three years, he'll still be a very young 23, by far the youngest Doctor ever. Not sure if he could pull off the wackiness, though, being more or less a straight dramatic actor.

>youngest Doctor ever
>younger than Matt Smith
I'll pass thanks.

I don't know, I just hope the role doesn't revert back to male for a long while and also could it be less caucasian too please ta

I've loved everyone in the role, there isn't a single doctor I thought was anything less than marvellous in the role, but it did get a bit absurd that this character who could become absolutely anyone just happened to keep becoming White Men and I think Capaldi should be the last one through the door for a good decade at least

There is no evidence a regeneration can result in becoming "absolutely anyone". As of now, we've only seen male to female (and that was a Moffatt/PC move). Only Eccelston of nuWho said he could turn out to be anything (which might have been true for him because he was full of vortex energy). We haven't seen any cross color regeneration at all (nuWho).

Yeah was thinking three or four, we went through four in the eighties which seems to be a consistent burn rate for lead actors on this show

There's plenty of evidence - in Hell Bent we see a regeneration from an old white dude into a young black woman. When Romana regenerated from Mary Tamm we saw her go through a number of forms before settling on Lalla Ward.

I mean I don't think there's much point in having a discussion about it if you think that giving a job to a woman is political correctness but it's just factually wrong to say there is "no evidence" the doctor can potentially turn into a plethora of forms that aren't "white and male".

After Whitaker, let's see:

Steve Valentine- Scottish guy with bad hair (you've seen him in plenty of things) who is also a magician (McCoy come twice)
Richard Ayoade- Because he's perfect and it's terrible that he didn't get it this time
David Mitchell- Or, even better, he should be Shakespeare as a companion to Ayoade's Doctor

The Doctor is a mostly comic role. Need a good comedian.
