who rose through the rank the quickest?

infinix

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
and how long did it take?

I'm talking about actual rankings through postings, not talking about premium members.

I don't know about records, but I think Squiggy's rise to spamdom would be damn hard to beat. He has more than 65,000 posts in less than 5 years.

Didn't one poster manage 1000 posts in one week? Maybe it was Niorah???? I am almost certain it was a female whose name started with N.

^ That would be me, yes.

I don't know who rose the quickest, but I'd definitely place a bet on eddie being right up there with the best of them. :shifty:

When Huntingdon first joined this board, he rose REALLY quickly.

But seriously - I can't believe no one has mentioned Enterpriser. That guy invented spam.

For real.

Remember when we used to have a Top 50? I was in the top 10 for a good while back in, um...2001? I do not post with such frequency anymore.

^ I loved those lists. I thought it was interesting to see who did what that week. I managed (somehow) to be in the top 30 percentile almost every week. I was always shocked at how many posts I was making because I never realized I was on here that much. I was also not trying to make that many posts either. (Post count means absolutely nothing to me.)

Over the last two years my posting habits have changed dramatically. I am lucky if I do forty or fifty a week instead of the four to five hundred a couple of years ago. Being a mod has not helped either. I guess I have said everything I wanted to say. Well maybe not about my NX-01 Art Project. I could talk about that until the cows came home but I seem to be the only one that is interested in that ship these days. :rommie:

And if memory serves, didn't blablover5 accumulate a huge post count in a short amount of time? I know we joined about the same time and she made Admiral long before I had even made Commodore.

Yeah, you and me both. I don't know if I was ever in the top 10, but I know that I was a ways up that 'first page' back when we had that page showing the top 50 or whatever. This was maybe back in 2003 - 2005 or so.

But having that page really encouraged spamming, so I was glad when we got rid of it. However, before we got rid of it and a bunch of folks became all about post count, I was slipping further and further down the list, I'm sure...because I never cared about post count. Still don't, in fact - I have no idea whatever how many posts I have right now...nor what rank I would be if I were not a mod. I mean, I've been a mod for so long that I've never really paid attention to what my 'real' rank would be. It's completely irrelevant to me.

My feeling is that if you are gaining any self-worth from your post count on a Star Trek message board, it is REALLY time to log off the computer and go BUY a life if you have to.

Post count didn't really mean anything to me, but rank sure did! I hated getting left behind in the lounges when all my friends got promoted. Of course, once I was promoted out of the Commodore's Lounge, I stopped caring. No forum on this board has ever been as fun as the Commie Lounge was back in the day.

That was one of the more fun lounges when I was in it, too. :)

I know I've moved fairly fast compared to a lot of my friends, but I try not to post meaningless spam so I know I'm not in the running for being one of the fastest posters. ;)

^ Agreed. I had the best time in the Commodore lounge. DangerMouse and I routinely destroyed the lounge and bar threads with drunken rampages and table dancing. That poor pool table had to be replaced on a regular basis. And don't get me started on DM's comfy chair. Delicious. *sigh* Good times. I miss her a lot.

When I was there (which wasn't THAT long ago--maybe a year ago or less), we had an avatar contest which if I'm right about reading Marie1's signature, is still going. That may also have been where the dream thread was, too, though I'm not sure about that one.

All of that was probably after your time, though. But I thought mods got to go in any lounge they wanted?

^ We do have access to all of them but to be honest I don't think I have been in a Lounge Forum in over a year. These days I spend about 95% of the time I am here reading through all the new posts in the forum I moderate. By the time I am done with that I don't have the time to peruse the other fora. Working two jobs and finding time to have a life doesn't leave much time for the BBS.

God i remember when i first started posting back in 03 and i would see people with captain's rank and above and i never thought i'd ever make it. And now here i am, a fleet admiral ... :shifty:

And i have to agree with all you that said the Commie lounge was fun. It was simply awesome.

I agree with all who say the commie lounge was awesome. It still is! In fact I'm heading over there right now. See ya! ;)

I think I had the most fun in the Vice Admiral's Lounge. I particularly enjoyed the av battle with the AL (and Anthony getting ticked when people starting screwing with the tag cloud  ). There were great personalities and lots of chatter going on. I miss my Vices!

It seems that, the higher up in rank you go, the less there is going on in the lounge.

Enterpriser, Huntingdon, ShamelessMcBundy, Squiggy, auntiehill, and several others all went from 0 to 30,000+ or lots more in a short amount of time...

and RoJoHen, you're still in the Top 50 easily. #33
