Who really wants this new film to fail?

Jeez, you want their names?

Here's a clue: they'll shortly be posting that they don't want the film to fail, but they fear it will because of some fatal flaw in the producers' plans (ie, it's not their favorite flavor of Trek).

I want this film to fail because we are not truly Trekkies unless our franchise lies in shambles around our feet and people treat us like the social pariahs we truly are. Let those Warsies and Ringers revel in the success of their franchises. True fans know what it's like to taste the bitter cup of box office and Nielsen ratings flops... and they like it.

And if you believe that story, I've got some swampland in Florida to sell you.

I can't imagine anyone actually wanting this movie to fail. If it's not your cup of tea, fair enough but you'd have to be a pretty sorry excuse for a Trekkie to actually wish anything bad upon the franchise.

I, for one hopes it's bigger than Titanic. Not bloody likely, but a guy can dream.

I want it to fail because:

1. The actor that plays Kirk sucks!!1

2. Because the uniforms look all wrong.

3. The design of the ship looks all wrong.

4. The plot is stupid.

5. The characterization is idiotic.

6. The budget is too small.

7. The teaser poster suckz!

8. I'm a bitter ass who hates everything.

9. It hasn't made an ounce of profit.

10. I saw the surprise ending coming a mile away.

11. The actor who plays the villain is stupid.

12. The musical score is dissapointing.

Therefor, I ask all TRUE TREKKIES to boycott this film. It's a travesty.

Every time a Trek film is successful, God kills a kitten. So please, think of the kittens.

Does this mean that every time you, uh, you know, someone makes a successful Trek Movie?

I agree...many people talk like they want failure but I let's see if they have the cajones to admit it

No, but it means that every time a fan, uh, you know, someone submits it on spec as a Trek movie script.

:guffaw: Even better!

UWC hit the nail on the head in his first post (not the one I quoted!). Nothing else needs to be said.

All you folks who want this film to fail... thanks in advance for going to see it in theatres. We know you'll be there, as Samuel T. Cogley predicts.

Apparently a lot of people already know what will come off my keyboard before I type it, but I will type it anyway.

Even though I do not like the idea of recycling TOS which is a show I have deep reverence for. That was the show that made me a fan even before TNG came out. For Trek's sake alone I hope this movie does not fail. I just don't happen to think TOS era Trek will have the mass appeal or future possibility that Paramount currently thinks it does.

I hope for every trekkie's sake I am wrong and that people are ready to get over the Trek stigmas and go to see the film. Trek and it's fandom have been portrayed quite poorly in the media and in TV sitcom jokes. It is the power of Gene's vision of a better tomorrow that pulled us over the hurdles and let Trek find a place in our hearts.

It is in that place in my heart that I don't want Trek as a whole to be labelled as a failure, as I would personally associate that with myself, for I have defended Trek to many a non-trekkie and have been laughed at for it as well as having lost out on a lot of ass when I was younger.

It is something that I am passing on to my daughter (who is named after a Trek character), and I hope there is fresh Trek for her to enjoy as she gets older.

I wish Trek does indeed "Live long and prosper".
