Who prefers Archer/T'Pol?

teh lulz! :D

How can people not see the chemistry between T'Pol and Archer? Twilight? Azati Prime? She totally has a thing for him. I for one always wanted the two of them to get together rather than her and Trip.

But alas! T/T is canon and established in the novels, so whatever. For any T/A needs one might have, there is always fanfiction.

I thought so too. The relationship with Tucker actually disappointed me when it began. To me T'Pol is a superior to Archer no matter what his rank is. When she engaged with Trip I felt she could have done better.....

I'm not saying she doesn't like Trip. She cares for him, all right, but I think that from the humans, he's the safe choice. Archer...her feelings for him were almost violent in nature. She totally pitched a fit (well, for a Vulcan), when Trip tried to talk her out of chasing after the captain in Azati Prime.

I guess her willingness to explore emotions only went so far. Admitting her feelings for Archer would have led to complete loss of control, imo.

It happens to humans. It happens to Vulcans. It happens to everybody.

I like your theories, Raytas. Keep theorizing. :D

The intensity and un-Vulcaness of her actions at the end of Azati-Prime were the result of her Trellium addiction. The drug inhibited her ability to control her response to her emotions. What we saw in those last episodes of season 3 were her Trellium affected responses commensurate with the type of relationship she had with each man.

Thus her uncontrolled response to her romantic feelings for Trip was jealousy directed at the Maco chick (can't remember her name), and then mating with Trip. Her uncontrolled response to her strong friendship feelings for Archer were tears at the thought of his impending death followed by illogical command decisions.

In retrospect I believe what we saw at the end of season 3 concerning Polly actually had much more to do with T'Pol and her journey than it did her relationships with Trip and Archer.

Yeah, go ahead and blame it on the trellium.

There's this book called How Real is Reality. It's about reception theory based on socio-cultural differences determining the outcome of a recipient's interpretation of a "fact".

You saw what you saw, and I saw Archer/T'Pol.

It is that simple.

;)

Regardless if one sees Archer/T'Pol or Trip/T'Pol, the fact of the matter is they established in the show that Trellium *did* affect her behavior and her emotional control. It extended to all the relationships in her life, not just the romantic one(s).

Some see the tears she shed as evidence one way or the other of which man she was "supposed" to be with; to me, when I watch that scene, it isn't just about Archer, it's about a complete loss of control and her entire world going to s**t. On Planet Earth, addicts often must "bottom out" before they can turn it around. That was T'Pol's "rock bottom" and I think to ascribe the reaction to one man or the other is kind of an oversimplification of the complexities of addiction.

Also, I'd cry if a close female friend of mine that I wasn't interested in romantically died or possibly even came very close to dying.. So yeah, loss of emotional control for a Vulcan would be even more intense and it wouldn't matter if she liked Archer as a friend or was in love with him, it would seriously mess her up. Add the Trellium to the mix and you have an unhappy, illogical Vulcan. Which doesn't preclude her having feelings for Archer, but it doesn't prove it either. And one could argue that she had feelings for both men.

Hmm, did I just argue against Archer/T'Pol?

...I prefer to just imagine that it happened...maybe that's lazy but it works for me. :) On the other hand, trying to fit it in with 'canon' can be fun too.

I think there are enough moments to suggest that they both have deep feelings for each other. Maybe it's just a deep friendship. But there's a very fine line between deep friendship and love, especially when it comes to men and women.

Canonically, I don't think they ever had an intimate relationship (except maybe in Twilight), but had they not been blocked by their professional obligations, it's very easy to see them getting together.

If you look at A Night in Sickbay, she basically tells him point blank that fraternization would be wrong because he's her superior officer, and that's a pretty early episode - season 2 - which was before most of the Trip/T'Pol stuff. In that episode, it's clear that he's feeling it for her, and there's subtext that the feeling is mutual.

I pretty much do. ;) Love is just that complicated. Though I'm a TnTer, I actually like it that Archer had feelings for her and that there's subtext that maybe the feeling was mutual...

But Trip's the one she ended up in bed with...and the one she took home to meet Mom...and the one who verbalized being in love with her...and the one who she ended up being telepathically bonded to... Since Archer can't check any of those boxes, it's "evidence" enough for me that she belongs with Trip.

But I'm open minded enough to not feel threatened by other people preferring it the other way. And the T'Pol/Archer 'ship has produced some damn good fanlit that I never would've read if I couldn't be open minded.

I had always thought that Archer and T'Pol would have made a better couple than Trip/T'Pol. But to be honest, I don't think any of them should have gotten together while on-board the ship. Perhaps after the NX-01 was decommissioned.
