I just know he's in DS9 and I'm pretty sure he doesn't like Julian. (I've only seen up to about 2/3 of the way through season 4 so NO BIG SPOILERS!!)

Not the most clear picture, but it looks like Sloan in Inquisition when he was in the Deputy Director of Intelligence role. And yeah, Bashir not liking him would be an understatement.

More clear photo, is this who you're talking about? Then yeah it's Sloan. He's something of an antagonist in the second half of DS9.

Martin Sheen as Sloan would have been awesome.

The Illusive Man in Mass Effect is basically a more competent Sloan, and his face was modeled after Martin Sheen.

Sadler is a great actor, but he's not in Sheen's league. That said, I don't know what else he could've brought to the character other than name recognition.

If there is one person I think would have been better than Sadler, it's Malcolm McDowell. I think a subtle Alex-esque sociopathic element would have slid nicely over Sloane's façade.

Plus, there would be that added layer of paternal intrigue. But since it would exist solely beyond the fourth wall, it would be without the contrived, cliché silliness that usually comes a long for the ride.

I didn't recall seeing Sadler in any roles prior to this. Having an unknown in the role helped enrich the mystery of the character for me. That, plus he did a great job in that role.

He'd been floating around TV as secondary characters for a while.

I remember him being Dan's idiot buddy Dwight from the first couple of seasons of Roseanne.

He was also in Die Hard 2 and The Shawshank Redemption.

Holy crap, he was that con in Shawshank Redemption. I never even noticed that until you pointed it out to me. And that's one of my favorite movies. Couple other Trek chars in that movie too. The prisoner who raped people was a security guard guest star in one of TNG's episodes and of course Warden Norton was Captain Maxwell. Which explains why he was going nuts blowing things up. ;)

Sadler was Death in Bill & Ted, and the villain in Die Hard 2, before becoming Sloan - that was definitely marquee value at the time.
