I don't really believe Kovarian is Omega, I was making a silly stand by pointing out that there is something more than "a desire to see old villains again" to support the claim.

There have certainly been classic villain cameos but the story, specifically the season finales, don't revolve around them. All the baddies conveniently disappeared from "The Big Bang" except for a lone rusty Dalek. All the RTD finales revolved around the return of a classic villain.

While RTD definitely liked having classic villains for finales, I don't particularly see the need to have them. It got a bit cliched by the time we got to Davros. That doesn't mean an aversion to having them, just not in the finale.

Besides, the Dalek was the closest thing to a monster in the finale. Everything else was just circumstances, but the Dalek pursued them (this is after the others appeared and teamed up, with at least the Autons being used in a way that wasn't generic).

I don't think the Silence will be led by an old villain because Moffat wants this to be new, but that doesn't mean he's opposed to them.

Well, the military-church's logo is the omega symbol, so that could be seen as proof that she is or at least connected to Omega.

Just a thought.

And it's an uninformed thought born of ignorance and wishful thinking.

The greek Omega symbol has nothing to do with the rogue ex-Time Lord. Moffat isn't condescending enough to use it to represent the actual character of Omega to dumb it down for the general audience (many of whom are likely too young to be aware of the character anyway) and risk angering the diehard fans who know what Omega's Gallifreyan symbol looks like.

Because this is Omega's symbol:

Not sure if this counts as a spoiler, but
isn't it pretty much obvious Daleks will be in the finale? After all, Moffat did say about a month ago that we were going to see Daleks in this half of the season. And since I doubt they're going to be on next week's episode with Craig and the Cybermen, I guess that leaves only the finale. I guess it still stands, every finale of the modern series needs to have either the Daleks or the Master.

Actually, we have evidence this season that Time Lords have been very inspirational regarding the sources of words and concepts based upon their chosen name. The concept behind the word "doctor" literally comes from the Doctor, not the other way around.

There's neither no reason to completely dismiss that the Greek Omega symbol was named after/influenced by Omega, nor is there reason to say that they'd be "dumbing it down" by doing exactly that.

Just to piss me off, it will turn out to be Captain Jack Harkness.

OMG Yes! Have a Scooby-Doo-esque scene where Kovarian pulls off her face mask and reveals herself to be an evil future version of Captain Jack.

Doctor: But...but...why the disguise?
Jack: I have a feminine side, Doctor. Deal with it.

Hey the guy ends up a giant head in a jar, who the hell knows what forms he might go through until then!

Hell when the Library 2 parter aired I was almost convinced River was actually Jack.
